So let me get this right, Benning doesn't know how to assess talent? |

This pandemic has done some really strange things for people's behaviour. Vinyl being one of them, I packed boxes of records around for years finally giving them to a nephew. About 2 months ago I started buying them again. |

JB needs results this year, if the team doesn't produce he won't have to worry about draft picks or prospects. His replacement will.

I think, for whatever that’s worth, he’s assembled a good’ish team this year. If they struggle it’s more on Travis Green than Jim Benning.
I was just making fun of his draft misses and poor asset management. |

Good read thank you.
While I agree with most of what the article claims...alot of what I see locally in current retailers and used vinyl shops is plain 'ol price gouging due to the rise in popularity.
An example would be the Led Zeppelin remasters on 180g vinyl. When first released they were around 27.99 each which was fair pricing for the time...now this same records are 39.99-49.99 and some higher. That isn't supply and demand for re issues that were pressed years ago and pre-'covid'.
Plus the mastering is poorer on (some)new heavyweight pressings due to the quality levels of pressing plants (closures) currently. Now that will improve a bit as I have seen and heard but they are using 'newer' digital based technologies for mastering instead of good ol analog like the past which is why alot of the original pressings still sound better than their remastered counterparts. Some of these new vinyl pressings are cut right from the CD lol so you really need to research sound quality before you buy which is always a good practise.
I'm sitting on around 2200 LPs right now most original pressings but have alot of the heavyweight reissues as well. Most are great sounding but many aren't due to the sudden shift in vinyls popularity just to get copies out there. Kids today aren't worried too much about fidelity which is sad but they like the tactile connection with vinyl which is great...I just wish they would listen to the records on good systems and not the London drugs and Walmart consoles sold to them today lol |

Judd Brackett drafted all those players. Benning will only be graded on the two most recent drafts so too early to tell. He needs NHL results this year - team needs to take big step or changes will be made - just is what it is.

Hes drafted better than any gm in franchiss history. All gms miss, not all of them hit at the rate jb has. Very few. Terrible at trades and ufa with a couole exceptions, I will admit. |

This is legitimetly the stupidest take on the internet. Judd Brackett was a scout under gm jim benning. S outs dont make picks. |

Totally forgot, thanks!! Truthfully, the Virtanen pick is primarily on Francesco Aquilini not Benning. |

What perplexes me is why JB hasn't ever won GM of the year? Probably because he manages a Canadian team. He's clearly one of the best in the business.

Classic Canucks fan, panicing and calling for heads in the pre-season. Let's at least give it 10 games before we fire everyone again. - canucksfan1944
No one is panicking. The preseason and the talk of Benning being a bad GM are separate. Who the (frank) cares about the preseason record. All I care about is the players getting back to season form, chemistry is being made between line mates, and new players get a chance to utilize and get used to the new systems. Anyone who is panicking over the preseason or their record needs to smoke a few bowls |

If they’re Acupolco Gold seeds, probably worth more. |

He’s just a fatter version of Treliving, if only that old dinosaur Holland was available. |

I don’t know about that, however, it may be true. That said, his poor finishes have 100% to do with drafting Pettersson, Hughes and Demko…I think Boeser and Hoglander are the only other draft picks from him on the team presently?
Anyway, like I said, the team looks decent, if they struggle it’s on Green, not Benning. |

I'm surprised Treliving hasn't started going to Jim's hair and eyebrow guy yet. |

For sure. He's gotta know he's getting close to the end of the runway this year. This team either takes off or he does. |
