I miss the days when I was chirping back and forth with friends who are Habs fans and would just rename the link to this website and send it to them. It was a mic drop moment for so so long......

Mine haven't crawled out of my gut since the floater first goal the Habs scored in game 7....I thought all the warm summer weather may coax them out but nope.

They (and I) have full blown PTG7D (Post Traumatic Game 7 Disorder)

I think you're right.. If they fail to miss the playoffs or get out of the first round, it's not only on Keefe.. It's a player personnel problem.. Couldn't do it with Babcock, couldn't do it with Keefe.. Firing the coach will still produce the same result.

Dubas would either trade one of the big 4, or gets fired before Keefe does.

Good thing that they are winning the Cup this year though, that should buy Dubas at least one more year..

Yup. It's not a bargain but he would land more on the open market! Great player.

Things are not looking up in Habs land to start the season.

Still, can't wait for puck drop. Preseason games are booooooring.

- Scabeh

There's a few bright spots on the Habs, and some good young talent.

I think this was shaping up to be a tough year for them, but you never know

I’m still scarred from the Luke Schenn experience 😔

If we would have developed him properly, Rielly/Schenn for a decade

- mr.sir

Uh?
No sorry, Schenn was never going to be a top pairing Dman. Leafs fans simply expected too much from him.
He could have been an effective 3rd pairing dman for sure....which is pretty much what he was his career.
He won a cup or two as a 7th dman.

But not top pairing on a winning team.

I have no regrets about the Subban trade. Weber was more than worth it.

Mcdonagh is a low blow.

- Scabeh

I think it is ridiculous that people regard the Kessel trade as one of the worst of all time.

Joe Son turned into (was always?) a massive piece of poop. And that's actually far too charitable a description. Ugh.

If you read up on Son's bio it makes Hackney's ball shots all the more satisfying to watch.

Then taking him 5th overall in one of the deepest drafts of the last 15 years was a terrible decision and should have been called out as such at the time.

He was seen as a future top shutdown defenseman. It didn't work out that way.

The first kessel trade that him to toronto, wasnt that great.
On the 2nd one, I hated that the leafs retained salary, I knew it would bite them in the @ss and it did.

Yeah, I think he was too slow to ever be an effective top pairing guy. He was a warrior though and definitely belonged in the NHL.

Having said that, I do think the Leafs rushed his development big time. If he worked on his skating and overall game, he might have topped out as a 2nd pair guy.

Which is why I absolutely love how the Leafs have shown patience and marinated Liljegren for so long. He looks ready!

They were banking on him developing his game like former Rocket Shea Weber who started as a "shutdown" defenseman and evolved his game. Schenn's game stayed the same and still is.

That he is.
He's easily a 10m per player.
Not a ppg player but he's spent most of his career on a dumpster fire team that is finally turning it around.

No FLA state income tax does help the take home salary a bit for him, but yeah -- someone would have thrown him 12 milly.
