Av's lost their back-up goalie last night, maybe they will give a fifth for Delia or Subban.
- LAHawk

Injuries starting to mount up around the league to create opportunities for the Hawks to ship out some players.

I was thinking the same thing about Delia or Subban to the Avs with Francouz out for a few weeks.

Same thing with calling the Sens to see if a Strome trade to fill in for the injured White who will be out for months.

Caleb Jones still out with wrist soreness and the team is dignosing how serious it could be.

Expect Mitchell to get a shot at making the Hawks out of camp.

Galvas has all but locked up his spot with Kalynuk already out with an ankle injury.

Powers has a nice write up about the hawks getting under the cap with Shaw’s contract included. He stated some players cap hit is more if there sent down (k Dach) then brought up after the paper transaction doesn’t work in his case due to potential bonuses. Didn’t know that part until I his story

Why would he not go through wavers?

He was relegated to the AHL by the team that drafted him and hasn't shown anything while in Chicago to show that he was above the criticism regarding his work ethic, play away from the puck, play in the defensive zone or play under pressure.

Sure there's some individual skill but not a whole lot to show that is manifesting into anything outside of potential.
- fattybeef

He will get plucked because he’s young, a previous top ten pick, and he has skills, he’s basically a lottery pick. Some here don’t care if he gets claimed, I really don’t care either way, but I believe that they can get something for him, we’ll see.

Also, I don’t think he had to clear waivers in Buffalo.

Increasingly seems like Nylander is bound for waivers. Colliton said today:

"He's coming off a long injury, hasn't played much at all... It's tough to get up to speed in that short a time. He's got a chance to be a great player. We'll see."

Just curious if anyone has seen what the IceHogs lineup will be tonight?

If Nylander is placed on waivers, with the Hawks hoping he does not get claimed, to be sent to Rockford for game action, yet gets claimed….

Can the Hawks deny said claim?

Exhale….

Considering he was waived and not one team claimed him, probably not, we'd probably have to give up the draft pick
- BetweenTheDots

I wouldn't retain salary for a 5th round pick as well. Waiving him was a "last resort" obviously no takers.

That part doesn't sound like waivers so waivers for sure.

I haven't seen any Hogs lineup yet but here is what I would do:

Slavin - Reichel - Altybarmakian
Wilkie - McLaughlin - Morrison
Mitchell - Yetman - Folkes
Chalupa - Gicewicz - Pour
Howarth

Phillips - Krys
Stanton - Krutil
Watson - Busdeker

Soderblom
Morris

Interestingly, the Hogs don't have enough defensemen to ice 3 pairs as Galvas, Mitchell, Beaudin, and Regula are still with the Hawks and Kalynuk is injured.

Busdeker played some D for the Saginaw Spirit in juniors and actually did exceedingly well. He was deemed one of the best defensive players in the OHL. Perhaps he plays on the blueline to fill the void.

BTW, that former Canucks prospect Jonah Gadjovich who you inquired about a week or so ago got claimed by the Sharks today.

Pretty sure NHL waivers are irrevocable. If Nylander is waived and selected Hawks can't change their minds about him and call things off.

Nice guess at a lineup!

IceHogs also signed another defenseman today as well, Jacob Leguerrier.

Oh interesting, i'll have to watch to see if he sticks with San Jose.

He felt like a really good complement to our forth line, with the other young prospects that are pushing for spots.

Thanks for the news.

Ryan Kennedy from the Hockey News released a top 100 NCAA prospects list and the Blackhawks have several on it including two in the top 10:

#7: Alex Vlasic (D)
#10: Drew Commesso (G)
#18: Wyatt Kaiser (D)
#43: Landon Slaggert (F)
#73: Dominic Basse (G)

Thanks for the news on that depth D signing by the Hogs today. I'll do some background research on Leguerrier.

Assuming he's ready to report, he could be the 6th defenseman which would bump Busdeker back to the forward ranks.

Looks like he was a former 5th round pick of Montreal.

I think Dmitri Osipov is there also, he's played most of him time with the IceHogs as a RD, I guess he could fill in as well.
Just checking:
They don't have many RH defensemen in Rockford, just Michael Krutil, Louis Crevier, and former defenseman Dmitri Osipov. You might be right in adding Donald Busdeker (RW) as he is RH as well.

Are you familiar with which Rockford defensemen, that are there, can play the opposite side?

I revised my Hogs lineup for tonight since I totally forgot Teply and Crevier are supposedly with them and not with their junior teams:

Teply - Reichel - Altybarmakian
Slavin - McLaughlin - Morrison
Wilkie - Yetman - Busdeker
Chalupa - Gicewicz - Pour
Mitchell, Howarth, Folkes

Phillips - Krys
Stanton - Crevier
Watson - Krutil

Osipov is still with the Hawks at training camp but should eventually be with the Hogs as he's on an AHL contract. Plus, he really is nothing more than minor league depth.

I really don't get all the hype around Osipov this preseason. Moving over to forward isn't going to change his fortune. He's just blocking a more promising prospect.

RH defensemen are (will be) Mitchell, Regula, Crevier, and Krutil. Galvas, Kalynuk, and Krys can play both sides. Beaudin and Phillips are getting their reps on the right but are better on their natural left.

I’d like to see a list of all prospects, not just NCAA. I’m curious where Allan is ranked.

He's an "enforcer" for the remaining exhibition games.
