I don't think he is going to make a difference. I think he's just a body out there that can be serviceable. He wasn't playing against an NHL lineup. At the time of the signing, I didn't like it because it gave Frost a lesser chance to make the team. I want this team putting the future first in front of the present.

That I understand. Though I’m glad that they can shift Frost to the AHL for now. He was not quite there. I was happy to see forechecking improve and his strength on the dot. But he couldn’t find space with the puck. It maybe better for him to get his game back for later this year.

Bassard did play against some regulars one game. Trying to remember the game. I will look back at it so I’m not talking out my butt. I remember thinking he looked effective against these regulars.

He seemed to forecheck ok, but agree he is a bust. Also agree Hextalls record it taking a hit here.. when you look back at his tenure it was not all that good. Love the guy, but glad he moved on.

If you're referring to drafting, Hextall's tenure was solid.

The Flyers don't have a 2C to replace Hayes unless they're willing to move Giroux back to center.
- MJL

So will they run three wings or three d those shifts?

Frost being sent down is not a bad thing for the player. His offensive timing was clearly not there.

Can you provide any evidence where I stated it was anything different?

Yeah. I thought he draft pretty good. He missed a few times but in reference to the Germ there wasn’t to many GM’s that hit that year that deep.

Look at the Provy pick with moving up to grab TK. Pretty good move. Got Hart. Not shabby.

I mean you argued w fans here for weeks over it. Only on planet Uranus did it not make sense to sing a center this year.

I’m glad they placed Frost on the Phantoms, hopefully sends a signal to all of the young prospects, YOU have to beat out a vet to make the team, nothing is given to YOU.
I’m sure if Frost plays well he will be called up. If Frost wants to play in the NHL play too good to
In the AHL and you will be called up or some other NHL team will trade for you!
I think I remember a former GM say something similar to a prospect doesn’t get worse playing extra time in the AHL.

This team has been too easy to make for young prospects, a few have been handed the job before they were ready!

You literally said it in your quote. You said it over and over and over. Now your sore that the team who knew Frost was not going to be ready disagreed with you. I’m not saying Fletcher is the next Keith Allen, but I think he kinda knows a little more than you (and me for that matter).

Also the flyers play on broad street and tickets are available if you plan on attending a game this year and watching in person. A little easier to judge talent that way…

Literally said what? You are uninformed. There isn't anywhere where I stated, insinuated or suggested in any manner that Frost should inherit a spot on the roster and didn't have to compete to earn a spot in training camp. Get your facts straight.
There is also nothing that supports that I'm sore that Frost was sent down. You are fantasizing.

Phil Meyer, Travis Sanheim, Carter Hart and the poster child Nolan Patrick. Not the they were bad but they all could have developed more before starting their NHL careers.

Oh and I’m a fan of all but NoPa but I think they should have been in the AHL longer until they had more time to develop their games and physically stronger.

I saw almost all the action and The Germ was pretty quiet. He looked to be struggling on both ends of the ice when he played NHL caliber guys. I was hoping that he could be a fourth line guy at the least but his career, while not over, is needing a jump start for sure.

None of those players were promoted to the NHL before they were ready. In the case of Myers last year, he was elevated up the lineup before he was ready for it but not for the NHL. You could argue that Hart should've been in a 1A/1B situation but he was ready for the NHL. Sanheim was worked in gradually and was a part time player. Patrick had a decent rookie season and was an NHL player out of the draft.

Its just so fundamentally incorrect to build a team in the summer just giving jobs away. Unless Mark Howe or Mark Messier are coming spots need to be taken not inherited.

I hate to break the news to you, but our prospects are just ok. At best. You want to wait and build for the future? Just how long would you like to wait?

I’m going to guess the GM took a good hard look and decided the supposed arsenal of prospects we have just is not all that great. The Hockey News agrees.

We did that w 27 as GM for years. Unless you are going to flat out tank for 5 years as per the pens it does not work.

Pretty sure Brassard outplayed Frost for the job so far. That doesn’t seem like a coach not liking the kid as much as frost just not earning the spot. Accountability and earning spots is good for this team across the board.

Hey using your plan first we would have Frost and then eventually we will have an ice age. So in millions of years maybe and I mean maybe the kids will pan out and we will get a sniff at a cup.

Welcome the world of the hextall strategy. How’d that work out?
