He was a scratch mostly through last years playoffs...That says enough about him.

They brought in Ritchie, Bunting, Kase, Kampf as UFA's...No way he plays over these guys to start at least.

- Santo_44

1 game and then he put up the best analytics, supposedly the Leafs are into analytics but I’m not 100%

Also Dermott puts up some good analytics for 3rd pairing D, I can’t see Sandin Lily to start the year unless Dermott is hurt? I know he didn’t play the other night and he was supposed to? Anyone?

He played 6 of 7 games in last years playoffs, hardly a “mostly”

Back to life is he? Lol

I just checked… that guy played 23 years… from 67’ to 80’

Maybe he’s the reason the leafs never won a cup again

Disagree

They can be more talented but not as useful

Skill is not everything whatsoever

- Dozzer

Exactly. Basically, the Leafs need more wieners in their lineup. Guys you don't want to be beside on a faceoff. Sadly, Engvall does not bring it. He and Gauthier should play no contact men's league together. LEGENDS.

after his 1st NHL game, he'll be declared a bust and should be traded for a conditional 7th rd pick

Kerfoot is already guaranteed to be a 3rd line winger

Him Kampf Bunting/Kase

Just wait and see.

- Dozzer

I think it will be the 3K line or K3
Bunting with JT and WN

Who do they get rid of to get Liljegren up here?

They don’t have the cap space.

And they’re not going to put Liljegren in a shut down role which is what the second pairing is.

- Dozzer

Liljegren looked great with Muzzin and has had an outstanding camp thusfar. He's not making the squad as he is waivers exempt and, well, it's a small sample set but I am very much liking them as a pair down the road.

Thinking Liljegren is the very last cut made and they will make it clear to him that he is the future. Really loving this kid's progression!

Marner ranked 4th best RW on TSN's Top 50 players list.

I'll refrain from commenting that he's paid like the highest... oops.

Nope, I’ll be shocked if they don’t put Mikheyev with them… who knows maybe he’s the one they want to trade so they are putting in a spot where his points will be higher

Listen I’m not against Liljegren but there’s no way a team that considers themselves a cup contender will go with two rookie d men.

And like I said, pairing two is a shut down pairing, so unless it’s the type of guy that improves Muzzin or Holl in that role they won’t be split apart

I don't agree with this assessment whatsoever. Llijgren is FIVE YEARS in at this point. He's a first round pick who can't beat out Travis Dermott for a spot. The job was his to take. The future? Pfft. The expectation that this guy will live up to the promise of a first round pick is gone. Don't be surprised if he and Robertson are trade bait. May not get you much, but Dubas has few other chips.

That makes us one injury away from Kampf being our second line center.

No thanks.

- Leafs43

I was of the same thinking. Kerfoot is just in an awkward cap hit for playing 3rd line winger. Not skilled enough to be a 2nd line winger and to expensive for 3rd. If a center goes down they he is really useful being able to slot in as as a 2C.

I was originally on the trade him side but I’m leaning towards keeping him just as Center depth.

Nice to read that I'm not the only one sold on this. If he was $1.5 mil., then no quarrel. Extra 2 million can be better spent.

I expected Robertson to be considered more seriously for a roster spot this year.

Guess he didn't show enough at camp to stick around?

There's still plenty of time for him to bounce back though.

- Scabeh

He's an undersized 2nd round pick, two years removed from being drafted.

Only 9 guys from the first round from 2019 have more NHL games than him.

If you take out Nils Hoglander (40th overall Vancouver pick - 56 games), their are only three other guys from the 2019 2nd round who have played a game in the NHL - Shane Pinto with Ottawa (12 games) and Arthur Kaliyev (1 game).

Has Leafs Nation (and Habs Nation?) over-rated Robertson? Probably.

But should we be worried if he plays on the Marlies this year? Hell no. That's where he should be.

Yeah, I'm really not suggesting that this year Liljegren will be a regular but I do see him being as much in the future.

Frankly, I think he's better than Holl who I truly believe is vastly overrated.

Drafted in 2017. Only 5 years in if you include this upcoming season - which wouldn't make sense.

He's not a heavy enough player for the NHL game at this point. Gets bounced all over the place in both ends.

Kerfoot is roughly average for a 3C, and Kampf is roughly average for a 3 winger

So it pans out

oh for sure, if Kerfoot had a cap hit of $1.5M,he'd be a solid depth piece, but 3.5M is too high
