He had a small upper body injury during camp and they decided to play it safe.
Think he's supposed to play in the last preseason game. - Scabeh

Just say 7 because what he makes is closer to that.
6.9 is a media joke that’s gone too damn far I’m willing to bet - Dozzer
I really dont think its a media joke and not even sure why that be a "joke" in the first place.
Its always been reported as just over 6.9.

Ottawa will be competitive this year.
Not good, not playoffs bound.
But I'm guessing they'll be annoying to play against and will win their share of games.
They will miss Tkachuk though, badly. - Scabeh
Only if their goaltending holds up. poop tier defense and the weakest centre depth in the division. |

Agreed, Ottawa will be annoying...always are.
They have to bite the bullet and sign Tkachuk, but every penny counts there. |

I think the Senators will be a bit, and I use this word very relatively, better. The Coyotes on the other hand? Oh my god. - RickJames77
We shall see….
My main point tho is that I hate how the leafs only played the habs and sens in the preseason and people are convinced which new guys on the team are going to make dramatic impacts
I’m not sold at all. |

Forgot about the Sabers,,, and Yotes. - bixll
He fell off the step stool that he uses to climb up on the bench. |

No faith in Shane Pinto?
He was runner up to Caufield for the NCAA MVP, sounds like a decent prospect. |

It’s closer to 7
So if its going to rounded to the nearest hundred thousand it’s being done incorrectly |

Jays fans!
The Jays will have about 26m in dead salary coming off the books for next season (they were still paying Tulo 4m per and Roark 12m), plus Semien's 18, Richarderson's 8m and Ray's 8m.
As of today their total salary is 65m whith 22 players sign (but many of those players have arb 1, 2 or 3) so that 65m base will go up for sure.
But they could easily retain Semien and Ray with raises to each while possibly adding to the bullpen without increasing the overall payroll.

It is funny the amount of capnaniggans everyone does and when it doesn't matter (Nash/Foligno/Andersen) we all kind of shrug and let it go. - AdamFrench
I think the big difference is that Nash and Foligno were terrible pieces of poop who hurt teams more than helped them. |

It sounds unusual but baseball has been doing something analogous for years. You can acquire/trade players after the deadline ...they just can't play in the playoffs.
Maybe something similar evolves. You can replace players on LTIR (which is ultimately what the players want b/c it means more player salary is created) but come playoff time you have to ensure cap compliance. There would need to be further rules dealing with playoff injuries, etc... but that's manageable. - The Law
Pretty sure that's the same for the NHL. |

If you weren't born in the 1920s, there would be a badly done photoshop job adding Caufield's face to that picture.
Missed opportunity for sure.

Shane Pinto is a very good prospect and a guy I think can be a very good two-way 2nd line centre...but he's also a rookie being the second line centre behind a sophomore who also has the above description in a division with Selke and Hart level guys. |
