Andersen : Wish him well. He was a great Leaf. Didn't get it done, but he was the best goalie they've had since Eddy. Hoping the two headed split starting monster works out this year.
Nash : I guess he existed? Helped their cap crunch bullpoop so...?
Foligno : Ya...(frank) this poop. - AdamFrench
Andersen played decent but I won’t miss a goalie who gets paid as much as him when he’s proven that he’s not an all star goalie in the post season.
The guy always played that way… go through times playing like a future HoF goalie and then plays like poop for a decent amount of time immediately afterwards |

My only take on this is this...
If the Leafs were good enough to miss Marner or Tavares or Matthews for an ENTIRE season and still made the playoffs comfortably...I would be very happy with the team I have. - AdamFrench
I think the Leafs could make the playoffs without Tavares, maybe...
Ritchie-Matthews-Marner
Mikheyev-Kerfoot-Nylander
Bunting-Kampf-Kase
Engvall-Spezza/Brooks-Simmonds
I think the team still makes the playoffs if Mrazek and Campbell stay healthy |

A quick half-fix would be that you can't spend the entire season on LTIR and then play in the playoffs.
It's still open to abuse, but it's a start. - Atomic Wedgie
It sounds unusual but baseball has been doing something analogous for years. You can acquire/trade players after the deadline ...they just can't play in the playoffs.
Maybe something similar evolves. You can replace players on LTIR (which is ultimately what the players want b/c it means more player salary is created) but come playoff time you have to ensure cap compliance. There would need to be further rules dealing with playoff injuries, etc... but that's manageable. |

He signed a 6 year 45m contract....avg sal 7.5m
Salary is: 7.5...I said 7.4 my bad.
Cap hit is: 6.9
Leafs actual cash being paid now is: 6m.
Which went down from 9m the year before and 8.7m the first year.
So its not meaningless....that is what is salary is.
But in saying all of the above....only cap hit matters to us, 6.9. - Fakepartofme
His cap hit is closer to 7 and I know you’re aware of this…. Why the (frank) is 6.9 constantly used? It’s just a quiet joke media uses that fools have fallen for tbh |

The mental gymnastics in here is insane.
The Leafs literally picked up Nash with the sole intention of putting him on LTIR until the playoffs.
He was never going to play in the regular season - and he was magically good to go on day 1 of the playoffs. (Just like Kucherov)
If the TBL cheated - so did the Leafs. The only difference is the magnitude. - Leafs43
Certainly the Leafs intended to use Nash's LTIR space. The difference is magnitude, but also the fact that Nash was actually still not recovered when the playoffs started. Kucherov had been recovered for 3-4 weeks. Let's face it, the salary retention on Foligno and Rittich was exactly $2.75m which was the same LTIR amount that Nash was collecting.
It's not cheating to use LTIR space. It is cheating to abuse the system and use LTIR space when you have a healthy player sitting in LTIR until you can use them in the playoffs. That's the only argument there. |

They gotta compete with the sens for that
But you know how so many on this site are convinced that the new guys need to replace other leaf players due to their all star performances against the habs and sens secondary lineups |

By the players? Maybe they've manifested their own issues then. Dougie Hamilton would vote differently today. - The Law
My guess is players and high budget teams wanted the flexibility to keep paying an injured player and pay for his replacement. Which makes the irony of all the whining when Tampa takes advantage of it even funnier. |

A strong performance by him in the next playoffs and the talk of him being overpaid/possibly traded will fade away. - Scabeh
Fade? ....Christ Scabby one playoff series win and Mitch will become the most popular birth name next year for boys and girls. We turn on less than a dime around here. |

Nash played game 1 of the playoffs. He was either still injured, or he magically got healthy the day before (Just like Kucherov)
Let's pretend Vasilevky got hurt with 4 weeks left. He goes on LTIRuntil the playoffs. Kucherov comes off. Is it still cheating? Or are they just using LTIR room now?
We are just going in circles. Bottom line - The loophole was obvious. The league could have closed the loophole, but chose not to. The TBL pointed out the loophole, but no one wanted to patch it.
So they took advantage. Good for them. |

Cause its easier than typing 6.96 or typing 7 and following up with explaining the 7.
And who cares, its $60 000.
If you think the "media" is playing a quiet joke on "fools" by saying 6.9 instead of 6.96....then I cant help you.

I think the Senators will be a bit, and I use this word very relatively, better. The Coyotes on the other hand? Oh my god. |

He had a small upper body injury during camp and they decided to play it safe.
Think he's supposed to play in the last preseason game. |

Ottawa will be competitive this year.
Not good, not playoffs bound.
But I'm guessing they'll be annoying to play against and will win their share of games.
They will miss Tkachuk though, badly.
