And an odd little observation from last blog:

Someone was mentioning that some stiff (can't remember his name) was sent down to the Marlies, and got Liljegren's number.

Can this mean they've already decided Liljegren is on the Leafs' roster this year?

Yeah, I'm really not suggesting that this year Liljegren will be a regular but I do see him being as much in the future.

Frankly, I think he's better than Holl who I truly believe is vastly overrated.

Not physically or defensively

Offensively yes, but he doesn’t meet up with the necessary requirements to fill out a second pairing role under Keefe

well us fans think of them as having stone hands because they don’t get a lot of points but they’re good hockey players and relative bargains 👍

why not make them happy and useful there for years instead a revolving door with the bottom six?🤦🏿‍♂️

this isn’t nhl 22🤦‍♂️

- Skalapy

Ehh... they're mediocre, bottom 6 replacement level players.

The bottom 6 will always be a constant shuffle because the core making so much $$$ demands it.

I replied to it

He has a different number in the AHL, the guy who got a number down there only has the one he wears with the leafs

Robertson is a hype job...People are talking about him as a future star.. He will be a fringe NHLer like Petan.

I think it will be the 3K line or K3
Bunting with JT and WN

- dmnted

Right now, the Leafs' PR department is praying that Keefe doesn't put this line together.

I'm actually serious on this.

oh for sure, if Kerfoot had a cap hit of $1.5M,he'd be a solid depth piece, but 3.5M is too high
- PatC80

As I mentioned he makes the average price of a 3C and Kampf is making the average winger price so no big deal really

I still think Kase is number 13 and Bunting is on the 3rd line

I was still thinking about jersey numbers from the other conversation we were having, so when I read the bolded above, I was all like, "whhhhhaaaaa? He can't wear that...."

Yeah, my brain has shut off.

I'll bet you any amounts of money that Kase will not be the 13th forward on opening night
- Santo_44

This.. Kase (baring health) will get 20+ goals this year and gives them a scoring winger on the top 2 lines or a much needed bunch of goals from the 3rd line.

I don't agree with this assessment whatsoever. Llijgren is FIVE YEARS in at this point. He's a first round pick who can't beat out Travis Dermott for a spot. The job was his to take. The future? Pfft. The expectation that this guy will live up to the promise of a first round pick is gone. Don't be surprised if he and Robertson are trade bait. May not get you much, but Dubas has few other chips.
- fifty__missions

Holl was 8 years in before he got his shot. He then played 13 games over those first two seasons and only become a regular at 28 years old.

Lily has progressed very nicely during his time with the Marlies. This year's pre-season Leafs camp he has been rock solid and he's only 22!

It's going to be fun watching him become a regular NHLer who proves his critics wrong.

Don’t agree at all.

The guy has nothing more than 1 goal and 1 assist in 3 games playing against the secondary players on the habs and sens.

Why are you guys so pumped up about this? It’s insanity, I’m sorry but it is.

On a related front, still no word from MLSE on tix for this year - they are awaiting word from the province on attendance levels.

I'm going to be franking pissed if I don't get to attend the home opener.

Because he's a former 20 goal scorer who could be a very nice found wallet if he manages to stay healthy.

it's because if he stays healthy, he has the potential to put up 20 goals

Holl was not a first round pick and never seen as a high end prospect. There have been quite a few guys like him who have found a spot after a long term in the A. I can't think of a single first round pick who has developed along the Justin Holl trajectory.

His head has been broken since he scored that much and as someone who has had his skull opened and had brain surgery I can promise you it changes perspective and vision.

He’ll be the 13th

Signed for one year and hopefully can contribute when he fills in for someone

I think so.. If he got claimed, we would need to get a third goalie somehow. I am happy he cleared waivers.. I don't want him to see any NHL game action, but would rather him instead of Woll or Scott right now

Means we don't have to rely on Woll to be our backup if one of the top two gets hurt.

I don't like the idea of Hutch getting starts at the NHL level - but I prefer him over Woll right now I think.
