The medical details or medical records issue is being overblown.
The issue has been the reluctance of the Sabres to absolve 100% responsibility if the surgery doesn’t go well.
It’s why the ball is moving now, the Sabres, Brisson and the NHL are working to come to a compromise. It’s called an ADR- Alternative Dispute Resolution - tightpants69
Arbitration is a form of ADR as well, just saying.
Settling disputes outside of the legal system is not anything new, in fact it should be expected

I count 4 forwards (Eakin, Hayden, Caggiula, Jonsson-Fjallby) of the 14 currently on CapFriendly, not including Ruotsalainen, that could be waived and nobody would care.
Plenty of space for the players suggested in that trade. - kingcong39
I've already made that argument.
Using my own proposal, the financials and rostering work completely. Including the demotion of Eakin.

So FYI, the Sabres and other negotiating teams are working with the NHL and NHLPA on having a plan to share responsibility if the surgery goes wrong and Eichel is unable to play again.
The issue is deeper than compensation it also has to do with insurance

Im sorry but this is BS.
Eichels camp literally said they would do anything to facilitate a trade.
They are now going on their own to do their own medicals so they can share them. - ImThatGuy
Right and that included coming about his medical situation, which was a closed file up to that point and not being discussed openly. There's a good chance this was released by Eichel's request if not at least his approval.
“With their easy remaining schedule, the Buffalo Bills earn the No. 1 AFC seed in over 50% of our simulations *if* they can beat the Chiefs on Sunday night.
If the Chiefs win, the Ravens become the favorite for the No. 1 seed at 27% with Bills at 20% and Chiefs at 19%.”
