Lol it was Rino and I just quoted it.

But he was top of my list if Poulin or Legare didn't grab a spot. I think he has 3rd line upside. He did have 7g 12a 19 pt in 20 games as a rookie once he finally got to WBS.

I wouldn’t read too much into AHL numbers from last season. It was watered down because of the taxi squad and juniors players.

Watched most of it but not continuously. Left room and answered texts and messages a lot. Anyway, up tempo game with shoddy D, mostly in front of net, but with the fight and battle to come back and win a high scoring game in OT.

It was all very familiar looking....

Lol eerily familiar.

He also doesn’t watch the games because he prefers Boyle over DOC.

Rusty had a good game last night.

There were some spots of bad D and some was on Casey. He was swimming in the net at times and took Dumo out on the 3rd goal I think. Wasn't a great outing for him but they managed to pull out a win.

Kap is struttin right now.

I think both Rust and Kap look to have hit a different level. The thing I noticed in the two games I've seen Rust is he seems to be taking matters into his own hands a lot more. I don't know if that's because Sid is out, so he's taking it upon himself or not, but it's impressive to see.

I'm sure that's part of it, but he's been progressively improving with each season.

DeSmith was all over the place last night. Just preseason stuff, but he was rough.

He was awful. A couple of goals were not on him, but most were and he just looked all over the place. Timing was way off.

If a couple is 2 and they weren't on him, there were only 4 against in total but most were his fault...your math is off haha...but I'm just nitpicking.

I will say though that he needs to be better and so does Jarry. Imagine this goaltending duo is what sinks the Pens in the regular season, not the skaters haha. Hex's head should be on a stake if so. I dont think there was a single person that posts here that wanted to ride the exact same goalie pair into this season again.

I think DeSmith is one of the better backups in the league and yes, I'll rephrase, two of the goals were on him, but he just looked off and out of position a lot. Hopefully this is just shaking off the rust a bit. I'm fine with him being the Pens' backup, but if Lindberg can chase him, then so be it.

It's sounding like Kessel doesn't finish this season in AZ and while I think there's a 0.0 chance the Pens are a team he'd waive to, would any of you do a Zucker for Kessel swap?

I actually think he had a down season last year at even strength, but I'm not sure how much of that is due to Sid finally starting to show his age. He did will with his PP time, though, and that kept his point totals afloat.

He was actually just closer to his average rate of production at even strength last year. In that 2019-2020 season he was playing with Malkin who was tearing up the league at 5v5. That season was sort of his outlier.

I know it's preseason, but he just looked different. He didn't look like a passenger.
