Begs the question Darth. Should they even bother to play the season? |

While it's always nice to see a Hawk win, it was a preseason game against Detroit.
4 PP goals given up, a 3 goal lead blown and they only get to play Detroit twice during the regular season. They may be able to fatten up on Arizona a bit this year but, they still have much work to do if they want to be close to a playoff spot.
Entwhistle and Hagel play well on the same line. They may have something there. |

And the following players are likely to be in the mix to snag the few roster spots up for grabs with the Hawks:
Forwards
* Henrik Borgstrom
* MacKenzie Entwistle
* Mike Hardman
* Philipp Kurashev
* Lukas Reichel
Thanks for the write up Theo.
Saw some posts last nite advocating Kurashev, Gaudette and Borgstrom all make the team. Hopefully that happens and they are able to unload Strome and possibly Nylander for draft picks.
If you're top two lines are 12 90 88 and 23 19 8, maybe Dach, Hagel and Borgstrom or Gaudette make up your 3rd line.
I could see Reichel starting in RFD mostly cause he's waiver exempt. |

I saw a team that played well 5 on 5, as a matter of fact they outscored Detroit 5-0. If the PK doesn’t improve then they’re in trouble, but like Sage mentioned yesterday, stay out of the freaking penalty box. I will wait for regular season to see how their PK works out when it’s more consistent and structured as far as PK team is concerned. |

I thought Borgstrom and gaudette looked good and would be shocked if they did not make the the team. I think galvas makes the 7th D. I just dont think they would want to sit kalynuk. feels like the stillman and caleb and dehann have locked down spots 4,5,6 IMO. I think dach and Khaira are on the team. Khaira is a great PK guy. of the forwards that played last night. I would say hardman,
Entwhistle, kurashev and carpenter have not locked down a spot. so that leaves 3 spots for those 4 and nylander, strome, and maybe less likely reichel and connolly. hardman reichel entwhitle and kurashev are exempt nylander, strome, carpenter would probably get claimed in that order. connolly probably not and would require some retention to get someone to take him. assuming carp makes the team. I dont think he does anything particularly well but coliton seems to like him. I think you have to keep nylander at least for a month and let him get back into playing games. strome just feels like the odd man out for sure. Kurashev does some nice things and so does enwistle but if you take away the goals they also seem to turn the puck over allot. |

I'm concerned about Kane. He's not taking these practice games seriously enough.

Toews, Johnson, Dach, Borgy. Who moves to wing, assuming none plays 4C?
And where does Dots' nephew, Dylan Strome, fit on the team? |

Absolutely, and keep Nylander instead |
|

Yea it sure looked like Kane didn't want to play last night since he was actually hustling back defensively. That's a sure sign of a guy that's going through the motions
He sure played terrible on the PK to |

No, I’d trade Nylander too.
Borgstrom/Reichel and Gaudette > Strome and Nylander |

How can you trade someone who won't get picked up on waivers. Per people on this board. Hahaha hahaha |

Agree on Johnson. And Strome and Nylander, too. Adding Toews, Dach and Borgy is a large upgrade at centre over last year. |

Johnson is staying at center for awhile. If they were auditioning to play between ADB, and Kane, you would of seen it already. |

And it’s not even close. Get the PK fixed and they will be decent this year. |

Assuming they can find takers for Strome and Nylavender, where does Borgstrom end up playing? Maybe on a wing with Dach and Hagel?
I think playing him as 4th line center would seem to be an even bigger square peg/round hole scenario than playing guys like Strome and Lavvy there. |

If Toews and Little Johnson are the 1 & 2C, I'd have Dach as 3C, with Borgy on his wing.
Another thing down the road a bit.....if Reichel is seen as a center, yet another top nine center moves to wing. Good problem.
Edit - agree about 4C. |
