Don't really think Dries and Focht are going to make the team this year and Garland and Miller might.
- VANTEL

Just trying to keep them fresh, because of how much they’re going to have to play this year.

Can’t really blame him this year. Two best players hold out, fourth line injured, trash heap of D available to him. Green is doing his best.

plus it's actually JB who sets the roster lineup at the direction of FA.

I think the fans who were penciling in Podz in the top 6...along with members of local media are going to spew some venom towards Green when all is said and done with this preseason. Is it on Green, no... but you no how it plays out when people are so passionate about a prospect and he doesn't get much opportunity with NHL players.

He's full of poop.

Top 6 will be the same with the exception of Miller possibly being the full time center on the top line.

My bet is Garland who was brought in to shore the top 6 will be in the bottom 6.

You have to be pretty narrow minded not to try Pearson somewhere else for a couple of games and try another offensive player on Bo's wing.

Green's preseasons are garbage. Maybe it's because he isn't that far removed from being a AHL coach that he keeps plugging them in until the end.

I honestly didn't want him back. I can't see why the fanbase was panicking on social media that we are going to lose him if he is not signed. He is not that good. He is the Tom Sestito of coaches.

He's got to earn that opportunity, nothing given. I was hyped to see him play after all the hoopla in here, especially after The Hoginator last season. Ive been pleasantly disappointed.

I really don't like the idea of developing a first gig coach like you would NHL prospects or something. Ok a few years ago but this team needs to take the next step and it's difficult when your coach is scared of stepping outside of his comfort zone. He needs to expand his comfort zone, not stand still.

I didn't share the same feelings about Podz as his fanboys. I'm a Boldy guy...was on draft day and still am 2 years later. With that being said, this situation has all the makings of Green taking a ton of poop from them over it though.

The ones who are now saying he needs a year or two in the A and there is nothing wrong with that are nuts. He's a top 10 pick. 3 or 4 years of development to make the NHL as a top 10 pick? There's a lot wrong with that and it's on JB... not much on Green.

I said a month or two, for the record, and there is nothing wrong with that. Also, not a fan boy, also wanted Boldy, but not too disappointed with Podkolzin. He just needs a bit more time to aclimate. It’s the “his game will translate to NHL play better than big ice” takes that annoy me.

Wait, are we talking about Podz or OJ now? I mean, apples and oranges here man, one is just starting his NHL career... the other HAS no career and likely is released to go play back in the SEL.

Pod will be fine, he's a young kid adjusting to a new continent, learning English, faster pace, smaller ice surface and powerforward typically take a bit longer to adjust to the NHL.

Yeah because every young rookie needs to light it up from day one or they're a bust

Should've traded those busts Henrik and Daniel when they were up and down as rookies

There's a lot of injury and recovery time in any OJ conversation. Disappointing none the less...

I really hope you are not mocking me over Podz since I was the one that made the post about him. I was down to earth about this prospect from the start. I listened to people paint this dynamic narrative about a meat and potatoes player all along. The "pencil in to top 6" group were the ones not being realistic. Now we see this kid isnt looking ready yet... and I'm not shocked at all.

Sometimes people post rosters that are what they hope will play out.
Before the season has started
Then injuries and contract holdouts happen.
Then they reevaluate.

It’s just for fun. Not to be taken too seriously.

I had him penciled in as a bottom 6 forward myself.

Id have to say this is a concern. I've backed Green before but his arrogance and unwillingness to diversify could be an issue over time. Not that it isn't already lol

The part that everyone needs to realize is that he's played 3 preseason games.... that's it lol.
What are we basing our opinions of him on? Lack of goals? Lack of awareness? Lack of production?

Hes been defensively in position from what I have seen, physical, and made good passes and made some good chances for him and his line mates. I think he should be on the 3rd line based on his performance, which for me has been good considering its a new system, language, country, line mates, etc.

Also, horvat played 5 games in Utica. No goals, no points. Podkolzin has played 2 or 3 pre season games and everyone has an opinion lol. The kid will be fine and I'm sure the coaching staff will do best by him to allow him to succeed in the NHL.

Podz is the last first round pick the team has until 2023.

He got penciled into the top 6 last year when his competition was Vesey Loui Highmore and Roussel.

Since Canucks got Garland we see a lot more penciling in at bottom 6. I think anyone expecting a twenty goal scorer really missed the mark. He is a defensive shut down guy that wins puck battles and will get you the puck.

I seen Carols stat of minus four in three games. I watched the last goal against when he got zinged for a minus . Focht loses face off goes back to the point , the other teams winger ties up Lockwood from getting to the point to block shot while Pods is out wide of the circle to block the other point in case the puck went back there. Not even his assignment which he would have had to skate across the ice shoots from the point and DiPietro lets in a soft goal.

I seen a play where the two D men were in the corner battling and he was in front of our own net covering . Where was the center that was suppose to be in front? I have no idea but Pods was playing a defend first game instead of waiting at the point for a break out pass.

I suggest fans start watching what he does defensively first instead of looking to see how many goals he scores. Any one noticing the shot count against has improved?

I'm seeing the same thing. He's always first back and back checking like crazy. He's always looking to pass first in the offensive zone, which probably stems from a lack of confidence but that will come. He's been physical. I think he's been great.
