my Take aways from the game.
what in the great goggalie mookalie was going on with that broadcast? It was franking horrible, weird ass camera angles, weird music during the play, it was just strange AF.
most importantly, we really need a goalie, like yesterday.. I have a feeling these kids are going to play hard even when behind but we just dont have the goalie that is going to make a big save at the big time in the game.
Anderson may turn out to be good but FCS, he is old and we can't expect him to play 2/3 of the games.
GMKA, go trade for a goalie please. |

Who should he trade for? Are any All-Star goalies available for trade?

Please bank it. We will be talking about Perfetti and Rossi for years to come and what could have been. Terrible scouting - lulags
Fwiw, think it is still way too early. He's just coming back from surgery, this was his first real NHL action and he just turned 20yo 2 weeks ago. While I agree the trend would suggest you are right, thats nowhere near set in stone. He's got a lot of talent and doesn't have the motivational or physical issues of Nylander. He's going to figure it out, I think. |

I feel for you guys. Your goaltending needs a serious upgrade and it looks as though Quinn needs many more reps in the minors, among other disappointments. Cozens and Thomson are your bright spots though.
Whereas I have been rather impressed with the development of the Yser-picks and Yser-signings for the Wings in pre-season play. We may not have to go out and add a guy for Vrana's absence, and play the kids instead. But it is still too early to tell for that.
The Wings won't be that far from the Sabers in the standings, but they are a better team than last year. And our 3 main forwards have not played yet in pre-season. Larkin, Bert and of course Vrana....I know it is ONLY pre-season, but it gives our fan base some validation that the team is going in the right direction. |

Per Dreger: "Teams with trade interest in Jack Eichel are being given the medical information as its collected, so the process is moving along." |

I'm not ready to take that leap yet, personally - Hank Balling
Is your contention that they won't be all time, 55 point pace bad like last season, but they'll be 70 point still likely league worst bad? |

I think they'll finish 30th, with a chance to finish as "high" as 25th if Craig Anderson is just north of mediocre and stays healthy. |

Just a gut feeling but I think Anderson will be fine, surprising a lot of people. And that's based off of absolutely nothing.

Looks like not giving out the medicals previously kind of backfired.

More entertaining? Sure. Just as bad in the win/loss column? Yes. - kingcong39
Doubt it. Just by sheer luck, they won't have a losing streak of 26 games (streak it would take to match the 18 gamer over a full 82 season) and it's not like the other games last year buoyed more wins in the column. A slight uptick is almost a guarantee |

The goaltending is going to be bad, no doubt - Hank Balling
tokarski could surprise for a small chunk of the season, but it's doubtful he can sustain nhl-quality goaltending much more than a month or two...might even be able to throw the aged one and 6k into that same conversation |

I'd like to think there was a reason why. Not a sarcastic or cynical reason why, but an actual one. That's probably important to know before we all assume.

Based upon? Won't know what backfired, or proved like a good move, until the situation has a resolution. Everything is hearsay or assumptions either way right now, and has been for a while. |

that's totally on jack's camp because of hippa...unless the team withheld that info after jack's camp agreed to release it |

11 total goals from Eichel, Hall Staal and Cozens last year.
This top 6 will be worse? Debatable.
Is this the right measuring stick though?
On a team basis, wouldn't Wins and Points be the better measuring sticks?
On an individual basis, then the standard raw counting stats would be the better measuring stick.
So, are we talking individual player production, or cumulative Team record?
In the initial 30 games last season, the team pumped in 64 goals and was outscored by 32 over that span. So, they could dramatically improve their scoring rate up to +50% as a team and still not significantly impact their team record which produced at a paltry 44 pt pace over 82 games.
BTW, my gut says about 55 pts this season, reflective of about a 20% improvement.
That feels about right to me.
Yet, I expect the games to be alot more fun to watch...God I hope so because they were unwatchable the first 35 or so |
