Did Laczynski have hip surgery in April? Why is there talk about him needing hip surgery again?
- PLindbergh31

He tweaked something in practice Friday I think. It was reported Saturday. I didn’t see if it was confirmed to be the same side or if he pulled the other side. Sucks for him and us. Kid has promise.

Reminds me of darrel POWE
- Peter Richards

You mean the fourth line LW/C Darrel Powe? That’s one?

So true regarding the PP, it seemed like the entire PP strategy was to get the puck to the points and shoot it. The PP last year never attacked the center of the ice in the high slot area. The great PPs do that consistently. The other problem the Flyers had on the PP was their zone entry; they complicated it far too much IMO with that stupid sling shot play which also became far too predictable and easy to defend. I am hoping this year the players are allowed more autonomy to create and above all else, they must get the puck to high danger areas and then shoot the F***ing thing! I want to see JVR shooting more and deflecting less, because that means the Flyers are doing exactly this.
- jd250

The sling shot play is not stupid and it doesn't matter if it's predictable. Every team in the league uses it for a reason. When executed, it is difficult to defend. JVR's strength is deflections and goal mouth plays on the PP. He is not a slot shooter.

With Allison out, they could run Forrestor for a few games on RW until Allison is healed up and ready....provided he shows up well in the pre-season as he has in all the camp's. Not saying it's likely but it could be done.

Anything can be done. Are they going to play a 19 year old on the 4th line?

Data is conflicting. Some have reported it's the right hip now...some reports said he is having issues with the repaired left hip. No word if it's something that requires new or follow up surgery as of yet. Im just hoping it's just soreness form overwroking the repair and it just needs some rest to get him back on track.

would this count against a year for his contract? I don't think if he plays in the ahl solely this year it counts, but could be wrong. If so i wouldn't just to save a year unless i was certain he had a chance to stick.

anyone know for certain?

I would hope not...either run him on line one with Giroux and Coots or line 2 otherwise park him in the AHL.

I did, hence why i asked about the "High Rate". He is your typical third liner at best who commits stupid penalties at the worst moments. Second on the team in penalties only behind useless NAK. Consistently a leader in penalties.
- WhiskeyMan

If you did then there is no need to ask the question.

Yes, I saw the interview where AV said he thought it was other side (hip).

So let me get this straight. Scott Laughton scores at a high even strength rate and would probably improve even higher if he got power play time, on a power play that hasn’t been that great the passed couple seasons?

This sounds a lot like “Hayes’ contract isn’t that bad” a day after Hayes signed the deal or Morgan Frost will be the next Giroux or trading young players and draft picks for large contracts won’t have future Ramifications on our cap.

I love the Optimism.

A simple 2 minute internet search shows this to be demonstrably false.

It is my understanding that the exception is for the age restrictions for the AHL for those players who were in the AHL last year due to the pandemic. That is not about slide rule but I could be wrong.

Anyone else think this will be a big year for ratcliffe.

No...the kid does not have NHL wheels. Not counting on him being a Flyer in the future

That and their coverage of the expansion draft was embarrassingly awful. That was an opportunity for them to shine and they fell flat on their face. I think I'll have no choice but to give them the money for ESPN+ because I can't find any info on NHL Center Ice. I wonder if it is no longer a product because of the ESPN deal.
- Scoob

Anything the league does outside of the games tends to be super awkward and cringy. ESPN is just the cherry on top of the poop sundae.

How is being a top 10 in penalty minutes consistently on the team not translate to being a team leader in PIM?

Maybe in your world being 9th or 11th on a team in PIM's is being a team leader but probably not in most people's worlds including mine.

Guess Laughts is a team leader in just about every stat category then... goals, points, TOI, just about everything.
