I like their chances of making the playoffs, and they'll be in the fight for the top seed down to the wire imo. The 'weak North' meme last season didn't hold water. Leafs are legit.

I think the new additions make us better. It should make the loss of Hyman easier to absorb.

Astounding. They should be leading the way. The death rates are far higher in MAGA regions. The vaccinated politicians and influencers sow vax doubt as partisan theatre to their base knowing full well it's killing them. It's straight-up evil.

What’s happening there should be considered criminal. We shouldn’t be surprised I guess considering trump won the popular vote.

Sure, obesity isn't a communicable disease -- I obviously get that -- but considering the epidemic of diseases and health issues that are caused by and/or exacerbated by obesity, the fact that society deems "fat shaming" to be socially unacceptable is absurd.

Is it a coincidence that the most prevalent comorbidity for fatal COVID cases is obesity?

But yes, people calling COVID a "plandemic" are part of what I would call the "conspiratorial" set of the anti-COVID vax venn diagram (the other sets being dumb and principled).

At the end of the day though, is it worth dunking on these people with such vitriol? What the (frank) is the purpose? All it does is add another layer of "othering" to our already fractured society.

I'm civil talking to anti-Vaxxers and I try to get them to explain their positions while gently nudging them with vax information. Some can't be reasoned with but wtf is the point of shaming these people? It only serves to further embolden their position -- as dumb, conspiratorial, and/or principled as it might be.

Th two greatest reductions in preventable death in my lifetime are reducing smoking and reducing driving drunk.

Both have had a large element of public shaming.

Peer pressure works.

Shame has been proven to be a very effective way to change engrained behavior and correct some issues caused by the Dunning Krueger Effect.

I would argue further, shame is the only way to change that resistant kind of behavior, especially public shaming.

I honestly stopped giving a (frank) about people's feelings. I can't believe the world is this dumb, this fat and this unvaccinated after almost 2 years of a pandemic.

My patience with stupid is completely gone.

1. Get a vaccine, stfu, so life can go back to normal....you know, vaccines we've all be getting our whole (frank)ing life for one thing or another.

2. Fat people, lose some weight if it's in your control so you will be healthier. If you can't, stay the (frank) away from my fries.

3. Dumb female genitalias, read a book or two every once and a while.

My life should NOT be continually affected and impeded because I'm suppose to be the "bigger" person. I think it's time for the left to start getting mad and put the stupid kids in the corner whether they are fat or not, religious or not....DGAF. They can all (frank) themselves with the biggest of public dunce hats.

Oh and.......Go Leafs Go!!!!!!

You’re right about shaming people, it probably makes them dig in even more. I just watched the National and only 55 percent of Americans are fully vaccinated and 2000 people are dying every day of COVID. They rank 42nd in the world in vaccination rates. It’s mind boggling.

The USA is the pinnacle of the "loose culture" society where individual freedom is hyper-idealized and seemingly any government intervention is viewed with suspicion (I guess an intensely fought bloody revolution in your history can do that to you).

I'm unshocked that the unwashed masses are rejecting vaccines at a silly clip and that the mortality rate is horrible considering just how (frank)ing unhealthy the country is (e.g. America is filled with proper fat people).

I could go on and on about the terribly unhealthy lifestyles many Americans lead, the lack of exercise, the dependence on pharmaceuticals born out of said unhealthy lifestyles, social media manipulations (foreign and domestic), etc. It's a nightmare of... epidemic proportions? (ugh, sorry, I had to)

Not sure what the answer is to change any of that but that propensity to dig one's heels in when someone (or thing) is trying to compel you to do something - even if it's obvious that thing is for the well-being of society as a whole - is uber-entrenched.

Anyone else have Rogers ignite tv? The thought is good but it’s connected to wifi and my wifi keeps crashing. It’s frustrating as hell.

Yup have it. Usually is fine. No real issues with it. Might want to try resetting the router and or having it replaced if it keeps up?!

You can’t catch obesity from a big person. Anti vaxxers should have their heads examined.
That idiot on the Oilers was calling it a plandemic.
