Not arguing with you at all on this (partially because I feel similar but I think I do care a bit more than you about the regular season) but isn't is crazy how expectations from us Leaf fans has changed from a few years ago?

Is this what other fanbases feel like year over year? Good lord it's weird not to just circle the games on the regular season schedule against the teams we hate and pray the Leafs win so we can brag about it for a week or more.

Until the Leafs can win a round in the playoffs and at least get within a sniff of the cup the built in excuses are there. I was looking forward to being able to chirp back at Habs fans that 1993 was forever ago and then they go and make the GD cup finals.

As long as he got enough counselling to not be scared of playoff hockey anymore I'm willing to see how it plays out.

Per some comments on SDA's play in the first pre-season game this year, I think it's a bit early to rush to judgment on this kid's performance. He was playing with a couple of goons -- not sure what more you can expect from him. IIRC, he also played some PK mins*.

Anyway, it's a testament to his play that he's warranted another look.

He ain't making the Leafs 21/22 squad but he's going to be a helluva lot of fun to watch on the Marlies flanked by Robertson and Gogolev (the Petes line)!

* Is it my imagination or did Willie also see some PK time?!

I know the preseason doesn’t mean anything but I’m not going to discount the whole regular season especially when it’s a real season that should tell us something about the playoffs - November 4 and 6 Boston and TB. I’m also going to enjoy regular season hockey. It’s silly to devalue it if you’ve got a good, entertaining team to watch.
