Isn't this season on track to finish normally? Why are they pushing back FA?

Is it the Olympics?

All this and a couple of bucks will get you a coffee. Nothing matters until next May. The rest is nothing but hot air. The Leafs and Mgmt will have only one way to answer for anything this season and it will be May before they can do so. Hopefully.

Yeah most likely the break for the olympics and a bit of a buffer built in there in case poop happens.

No, I don’t think that they are all required to. I believe they just don’t get paid if they miss time due to a covid procedure that they otherwise wouldn’t have had to go through if vaccinated. Or is that football? I’m not even sure.

Also, the disease can still spread amongst vaccinated people. We’ve also seen a lot of unexpected poop these last few years, so some insurance time against that “unknown” isn’t necessarily a bad thing in my opinion.

Well, they do still kinda sorta have to make the post-season first. That's kinda sorta maybe important too.

But yes, May is certainly D-Day (month?) for this club (if they make it?).

they must be tested day to day or every other day.
must wear mask
limited to their hotel room while on the road
14 day quarantine rule apply while in Canada

are things non vaxxed players must adhere to

You have clearly never dealt with a union before.

But no, they aren't required - but they will lose pay if they miss time due to travel restrictions or quarantine.

Edit: Apparently they are exempting unvaccinated NBA players from quarantine, so I assume same exemption would apply to NHL.

And others are saying they won’t. Who the (frank) knows? If a couple of the new guys pan out and they get decent goaltending, they should be a pretty good team. I have no idea about other teams in the division.

It certainly is.

To be fair, (is that allowed?), I'm fully vaxxed and will make the "life choice" to get the next dose (if and when one is available), but I'm getting kind of sick of people piling on those who are refusing to get the vaccine for whatever reasoning they have (principled, dumb, or principled and dumb).

We frown upon fat shaming in this society (for no real clear purpose other than feelings?) so why should we feel it's okay to COVID vax shame?

Bertuzzi has made his "life choice" and will face some real consequences.

I'd definitely be shocked if they didn't but with the hilarious narrative that "the margins between teams are so close", that's often touted when the Leafs inevitably lose a playoff series, it's in the realm of possibility.

You can’t catch obesity from a big person. Anti vaxxers should have their heads examined.
That idiot on the Oilers was calling it a plandemic.

Sure, obesity isn't a communicable disease -- I obviously get that -- but considering the epidemic of diseases and health issues that are caused by and/or exacerbated by obesity, the fact that society deems "fat shaming" to be socially unacceptable is absurd.

Is it a coincidence that the most prevalent comorbidity for fatal COVID cases is obesity?

But yes, people calling COVID a "plandemic" are part of what I would call the "conspiratorial" set of the anti-COVID vax venn diagram (the other sets being dumb and principled).

At the end of the day though, is it worth dunking on these people with such vitriol? What the (frank) is the purpose? All it does is add another layer of "othering" to our already fractured society.

I'm civil talking to anti-Vaxxers and I try to get them to explain their positions while gently nudging them with vax information. Some can't be reasoned with but wtf is the point of shaming these people? It only serves to further embolden their position -- as dumb, conspiratorial, and/or principled as it might be.

Shaming appears to be ineffective. Mandates are very effective and are proceeding, so supporting mandates seems to be the best course.

However, anti-vax sentiment is indeed profoundly stupid and selfish so saying so is just speaking truth.

You’re right about shaming people, it probably makes them dig in even more. I just watched the National and only 55 percent of Americans are fully vaccinated and 2000 people are dying every day of COVID. They rank 42nd in the world in vaccination rates. It’s mind boggling.

I like their chances of making the playoffs, and they'll be in the fight for the top seed down to the wire imo. The 'weak North' meme last season didn't hold water. Leafs are legit.

Astounding. They should be leading the way. The death rates are far higher in MAGA regions. The vaccinated politicians and influencers sow vax doubt as partisan theatre to their base knowing full well it's killing them. It's straight-up evil.
