For what it's worth, I agree.
He's a very good pickup for the Leafs, even if he ends up out of the top 6. - Scabeh
Low risk signing for sure

You have clearly never dealt with a union before.
But no, they aren't required - but they will lose pay if they miss time due to travel restrictions or quarantine.
Edit: Apparently they are exempting unvaccinated NBA players from quarantine, so I assume same exemption would apply to NHL.

good to know.. I didn't realize that there are making exemptions |

In my opinion the Leafs messed up by not improving goaltending. The way they play they need a legit top 10 starter. Going with 2 backups to split is not a safe play.
Campbell seems to be a great human and I like him for that - but hockey wise he’s just not a starter in my mind. Never has been and I don’t think he will. He has been in the league for a long while and not been or stole a starter spot. Even in Toronto it was only when Andersen was hurt that he became a starter.
Keumper would’ve been a great snag. If it took (not to start a debate who!) one of Nylander or Marner as part of a larger deal I think you do that. Would’ve freed up some cash to address a bottom pairing dman as well and another winger (mid 6).
Mrazek looked real good tonight though for sure. Campbell looked scrambly…preseason isn’t much to go on though at the same time - Big23Questions
Frankly, I think Mrazek probably wins the starting job this season. I'm not terribly confident that Campbell's enormous success last season will continue into this one. Though maybe Mrazek pushes him and the competition is healthy for both goalies?
Kuemper would have been a nice addition but yes, it would have necessitated a big move like Marner to really make it happen. Don't get me started on Marner, please. |

There's no reason to believe he ends up out of the Top 6 anytime soon. |

Did he do something else?
I'm genuinely curious because I have to decide if I keep him as a low cost option in my fantasy league (with salary cap).
If he does slot in with M&M, sounds like decent fantasy value. - Scabeh Like you said, I’d see where he slots in the lineup. Also, a lot of his production last year was when he was on the top PP in Boston. I’d see which unit he is on and how the Leafs split time between the two to determine whether he’s worth keeping or not. Good luck

I thought he was fine. First game of the year with new teammates. Brooks was fill in for Matthews but once Matthews comes back Ritchie won’t need to touch the puck a whole lot. He’ll probably bang 15-20 goals in from 5’ or less.
Even though I think he starts on the top line I could see him being sat for a mikhayev if the team is protecting a lead. If Matthews and marner get 20-22 mins a game I think Ritchie will have 16ish. |

Just nice to have a guy that can play the game, and go put someone like Chariot in his place. |

Ritchie does this from time to time, but I wouldn't necessarily want to leave all of the policing to him, though. That being said he's better than what the Leafs had last year. Just be prepared for the stupid penalties, because they follow him around and usually are at the worst damn times.
All in all, I think he'll work out for you. |

For me, it is not about the regular season anymore. It is all about the playoffs. I figure the Leafs can get to the post season, they need a guy like him to go the next step. A couple of guys like him would be better. |

Yeah 100% necessary in the playoffs to have guys like that to lean on the opposition and keep them in check when needed. He'll be a good player for you, but he can be frustrating at times. I hope he does well for himself in Toronto, as I liked him in his brief stint here. I hope he sticks up on one of those top two lines and gets rewarded |

I can't find the tweet but someone put together a crazy set of events that, if they transpired, would result in a 5-way tie for the wild card slots. Oh, how I would love that kind of chaos! - mjones242
Seattle pushing hard as well.. I don't see Oakland winning out though.. It would take a lot for the A's to make it |
