I don't think the NHL just came up with a rule yesterday seeing they mentioned last year that players would not be penalized for sitting out in the bubble but would be penalized the following year.

GMs can't just terminate contracts . I would think the PA would be involved.

I respect TH's decision and I like the player but if he is not reporting then you need to replace him . You would hate for your GM to run out of time again.

I don't think it is a sh1tshow at all and will be resolved by Friday.

I think in instances where a player is withdrawing their services and it can be shown that the league has done all it can to alleviate the concerns of the majority, a contract can be terminated for cause. Sure, the PA would scream until they're blue in the face, but when the vast majority of players are fine with the rules/regulations put in place and the tiny minority aren't, the minority don't have much standing, especially if they are arguing against rules that are designed to keep them safe.

How do you know what Hamonic said to Benning? You don't know if he flat out lied.

- boonerbuck

I don’t know what, if anything, was said to Benning. But I would bet that Hamonic didn’t flip/flop. I bet he didn’t say anything. That Benning heard about the speculation and then when confronted with it he just blurted out his “he will be here” quote in the most defensive tone you can imagine. The man shouldn’t be the face of an organization.

Or... it could be he was lead to believe by Harmonic's camp/agent that he would be there and maybe Harmonic himself changed his mind at the very last minute. His agent might be the one that mislead JB rather than Harmonic himself because that's what an agent is supposed to do, protect his client and look out for his best interests.

Benning was pissed last Thursday and said "He will be here tomorrow"

I would have guessed Benning probably looked into suspending Hamonic without pay and the NHL said wait a minute .

Exactly, we have a passive aggressive GM. Burkie would have told the agent to broker suitable deals elsewhere for those little f*cks.

Probably, in part, why his teams never got past the second round

Here's another procrastinating dipsh*t

Dhaliwal on Hamonic: Things I heard over the weekend is he is thinking about retirement, sitting out for the season or coming back. Everything is at play.

Thinks decision could be made soon.

- VanHockeyGuy

(frank) Hamonic also. Why did he sign a contract if he was on the fence,

That is suppose to be the reason. They were talking about it last Thursday and Friday . Benning said on Thursday everyone will be vaccinated. He expected him to go get his shots and he would report to camp Friday.

He sat out the covid bubble playoffs with Calgary because of his daughter's health. I imagine its more than just procrastination, and when it comes to your kids health, I don't think there's a timeline on making decisions on what's best for them. If he's willing to give up 3 million dollars a year for her, I imagine its an important enough decision

Friedman: I'm really wondering that at the very least, Hamonic is considering opting out by October 1st, 2021.

Not as much as they are hoping for. I think Buffalow would trade him for CapSpace once he comes off LTIR

No one ever gets fair value for a star player wanting out. It’s a shame. Yet another poorly owned / managed franchise and the results show it.

but the league rigs the algorithm that compiles the league schedule to give the leafs a competitive advantage is just plain facts rather than going all in on a hunch.
