Hopefully VAN ices a better lineup tonight. All in all though last nights game was okay though.

Solid defensive defenceman, tough, face puncher
My turn,
Hunt

$2m

Also, I’ll admit he’s solid, like a pylon is solid, or a pillar, or a column, or a jello mold. He’s a terrible defenseman. There was a nice clip posted on Twitter of his read at the line last night.

Brad Hunt is certainly no prize, but he’ll be a good mentor in Abbotsford.

Still hard to believe Benning paid a late first round pick in Jared McCann, an early second round pick (33rd overall) and a fourth round pick for Erik Gudbranson.

Dale Tallon is probably still giggling about that one. It's also hard to believe GM's still believe he holds some value with how poorly he's played over the past four years. The Flames are going to implode this year and head into another full rebuild.

Edit: I will admit acquiring Tanner Pearson was a huge about-face in recovering from that terrible trade. Pearson's been a solid second line addition to the Canucks.

Oct 1st might be the EP and QH signing date? I believe that is the deadline for players to waive for the season (re: vaccine), assuming a strong chance Hamonic waives and opens up $3M for this season.

Green runs his preseasons kind of backwards. While other teams are trying to figure out their NHL line ups from the start, he'll keep rotating lower tier players until the very last preseason game. We'll open the season against teams that gelled lines for a week plus ahead of us all in the name of getting looks at players who are obviously not in the picture. Those players should be showcasing in the AHL camp but right up to the end, they will be on a 2/3 NHL line. There will be confusion in the first few regular season games as he will face second guessing and be forced to make changes... something that could have been done in the preseason.

Doubt me but he's done this every season and I've made this post the last 2 preseasons and got it right.

Remember when QH went through rookie camp on the 2nd PP unit, never got a look even though you could see he was ahead of everyone on D? Then game one came and it was the exact same D on the point...Edler... who fumbled the puck over and over and we were yelling for him to get Hughes up there... and by game 3, he did... this should have been figured out in the preseason but he refused to do what everyone else could see... Hughes was the guy... Edler had no reason to be the QB... he sucked on the point and the whole world could see it. The whole world had watched Edler being the other teams best PK... but Green is one stubborn MF.

Ok....given everything we currently now know about Jim Benning as he heads into his eighth season as the Canucks GM, you're probably right.

Capfriendly transactions are great for seeing what player was picked and such.

It's hard to follow because when teams gets other teams picks, they seem to be traded a ton but the 2nd went to Buffalo with Kulikov for Psysk, Mascherin (SHL) and Nassen (Liiga) and Buffalo picked Asplund who has played 50 some odd NHL games with limited success and Ang (SL) in 4th round.

Really in the end at this point it's pretty much like McCann was traded straight up for Pearson.

A solid showing by some young guys last night, the PK needs some work...again. Hopefully they ice a better lineup tonight against a terrible Flames team who had their asses completely handed to them last night by Lordy's mighty Oilers.

Ya I don't really buy this. Other teams are figuring out their NHL lineups from the start? No they aren't: it's a constant mix of players until they start to whittle the team down. TG has done some good things in preseason as well, like Petey as C and pairing QH and Tanev immediately and allowing young guys to beat out vets amongst others. I'm all for TG bashing, but given the poop he's had to work with it's not like there were clear cut NHL players in the organization.

On the flip side, if he wasn't giving people opportunities to showcase themself (Motte, Klim, Rathbone, etc) people would be yelling he's too stuck in his head

Philadelphia Eagles vs Dallas Cowboys tonight, any thoughts on who's gonna win?

Rathbone and Klimovich showed their raw talent last night, two very nice players. They both need to make better decisions with the puck but that'll come with experience.

Should be a close one. The Seahawks are in trouble, their D is horrific, the players don't understand assignments. That tells me they need to fire Ken Norton Jr.

You can bet the Mighty Flames show up tonight led by Chris Tanev. Sutter will want to give the Canucks a beat down as they did the last game of last season. Probably 1/2 the crowd will be cheering for the Flames as they had the foresight to put a Ahl team there first. Took Dim Jim a couple seasons to realize the benefit of having the farm close.
