Going to be awfully hard to convince this fan that Pinto needs to AHL seasoning.

Pinto is well on his way to playing onto the opening night roster. I was initially worried he might get locked into something like a 4th line role if he was playing in the NHL, but he could very well get the start between Stutzle-Brown. Really nice goal from Greig as well, but obviously an undisciplined play ended his night. But he's got a very noticeable skill set, and looks like a very probable middle-6 forward.

Nice shootout goal for Brannstrom, and it feels like he's playing with pretty good pace and confidence. If you saw the red-white scrimmage from Sunday, Brannstrom scored in that game as well, so it's good to see him putting up numbers early. Smith was suggesting that Holden was very capable of playing either RD/LD, so maybe that bodes well for Brannstrom starting the year in the NHL with some veteran mentorship.

If he starts in Ottawa is that a safe assumption he stays all year, or will he get more of a tryout?

Pinto isn’t going anywhere. He’ll be in Ottawa the whole year.
