Mikheyev dominating again 🤔 - mr.sir
The puck really does seem to die on his stick. I was hoping he get it back but appears that he has a bad case of the Engvalls. |

Gonna be honest with you, I don't have a lot invested in this. I really don't care either way.
There is a definite logjam and I can see some changes coming through camp as a result. Be it deciding to part with Mikheyev or Engvall or both... Perhaps Kerfoot underwhelms and they decide to move him and utilize the cap space another way or trade him for a bottom pairing defenceman.
I can see something unexpected coming towards end of camp, especially if Ho Sang or Gusev earns a contract. - joel878
I'm not invested, but I'm not that impressed. That said:
First: Well, Gabriel has a goal, so there's that.
Secondly, I had said previously that if Gusev or Ho-Sang (far less likely, I'd think) can somehow emerge and make Kerfoot or someone expendable, that would be ideal in terms of getting us the cap flexibility we'd need. No matter what, we're going to lose one of the above guys at some point, because that $80k is a 13F, 6D lineup. As soon as _any_ D gets hurt, but not significantly enough to be placed on LTIR, we would need to waive one of the 13F to make cap space to call up a guy from the AHL.
So they're going to have to do something. |

Not so sure about that, can see him being the pressbox guy who slots in when needed. - joel878

Someone should tell it to the Habs, not sure they started playing. - Scabeh

This game (so far) is just more proof. |

I feel like Mikheyev and Engvall should be fighting for one spot. There is zero need for both, and if there's even the slightest indication Mikheyev can easily be replaced he should be. That 1.7 million is huge for exactly what you just said. |

Sandin has been very unimpressive for a guy who's allegedly a lock for the top six and in for a breakout season. |

And as is usually is the case, he does nothing with it. At least he's reliable.

First, I like Engvall. He might very well be the one to go. Who's the first guy to sit in the press box? That's usually an indicator! He's inconsistent, so I get it. But I like it when he's playing well.
The only problem with dumping Engvall is that he's @ $1.25m which is arguably too much - dumping him _does_ give us the flexibility to bring up a 7th D-Man, but it leaves us with 12F. The cap is so tight that the edges of F or D are pretty tight.
Any LTIR injury gets you some relief (Kase comes to mind), but yeah . . .it's probably trade Kerfoot time - even if he is a better player than Engvall.

Solid win
Ganriel, Ho-Sang, Amadio, Robertson looked good out there.
Bloody stupid shootout. Great idea till a goalie pulls something. Idiotic. |

He did, but the stranger play was the lack of commitment from Brodie on the right side. Brodie commits forward and almost immediately stops and is *done*. What was that?!
A preseason move! |

That's not what I meant by all that - I meant that they might have to trade Kerfoot for the capspace. |
