Habs say hi.

A good GM wouldn't negotiate. He just forks over what they want right away. Even if their agent says we'll talk again in the summer. You say no. You are signing now.

Get a grip. Your best GM in Canucks history is still out of work by the way. The man responsible for the worse draft year in Canuck history.

38-38 on Friday for a 76 best of the year so far. Played the regular Prov1 not quite as long as the left dash Prov1X but a damn good feeling ball lol

The positive of this, should it go into the regular season for a few weeks or months, is that it'll probably cost Jim Benning his job....which would be an absolute blessing to end his reign of idiocy.

If only we could just get the owner to sell the team now

Or it will be added to the list of excuses.

Suggesting that trade shows the moronic idiocy running through the thread.

I have a jerrycan standing by.

Are we allowed to say "Jerrycan" anymore?
Only in Red Deer maybe?

I don't know about that. I have seen a lot of Tkachuk for Petey , Dahlin for Hughes , or hopefully Rathbone can replace Hughes. To me it sounds more like a lot of people here don't have trust in Petey and Hughes.

Canada just beat Ireland in the quarter finals 14-12 kicking a convert with no time left.

You have to consider, not the proverbial you, jus the general you, fair market value as well as value to the franchise. A franchise that's been poop for almost a decade and had yet another bottom ten finish without Pettersson in the lineup for the last half of the season.

Without knowing what the agent for these two kids is asking for them, you definitely have to consider, if you're Jim Benning, that yet another bottom finish or even a bad start will cost him his job. At this point he's backed himself into a corner by assuming he'd be able to sign them for "X" amount of money, he should've left himself more freeboard.

Absolutely, but what's fair market value? It differs year to year and person to person. If the market is flat or stagnating, which is what's happening, that is going to have a negative impact on value league wide.

Wasn't foreseeable but definitely puts the microscope on past overvaluation. I agree that Benning needed to leave more flexibility but he was working with a growing market for most of his tenure. Nobody saw it turning on a dime until it did.

I think Dahlin definitely left some money on the table but he wanted to sign and play. Six million per year on a three year deal is certainly a team friendly deal but he also had a bad year last year after putting up two 40+ point seasons. Hughes is a cocky American, he'll put himself before the team. I'm assuming he wants 7.5 million or more?

Pettersson is the most talented forward to come along in Canuckland in quite some time, probably since the Sedins were drafted. You win with players like him, you don't trade them away because you had one disagreement.
