Too bad for Eichel he wanted out of here and it will be on the Sabres terms. Nobody forced him to sign the contract. I dont care if they never trade him . Let him rot here. Hes a spoiled brat. |

Just let the guy get his preferred surgery. You can't say someone is a spoiled brat when they have 50+ years to live and your team doctor goes back and forth on what options he thinks are good based upon how much the Sabers put pressure on him aka deposit into his account that month.

My god Eklund you can not get nothing right. Dahlin did not get 9 mil per, he got 6. How can you report such nonsense??? - joegreif17
Have you ever considered that the source made that Mistake? Ek just reports what he hears so maybe a source said they might sign $9m deals like Dahlin did. And Ek just reports that. |

Eichel is free to get any surgery he decides he needs. There are consequences in life for all decisions you make. He can have a happy future 50 years. However if he makes that decision it might be without hockey. NHLPA negotiated these rules. That is where his complaint lies with. |

No he is not. The NHL is not going to allow that. There is a reason they got that in the CBA, and they certainly dont want the sabres folding on it. |

The Sabres have to know that Eichel is never going to play for them again at this point so why are they still making a big deal about what surgery he gets? They could either trade him to another team who is willing to allow him to get the disc replacement surgery he wants and get decent value for him or continue to be stubborn and play this war of contrition with him and in the end he still gets the surgery he wants and they get less than decent value for him. Every day they wait the situation gets worse for everyone. |

You didn't get what he was saying. He is saying he can quit hockey and get any surgery he wants and or void his contract. |

Easy to attack Jack...but who has better chance at future success?
Not going to insult Mickey Mouse but the Sabres are a pathetic organization and as a diehard fan a rather crap history with the worst currently happening
Should have allowed Jack to get the disc replaced!
His choice that was correctly made with a second opinion and consultation
Most athletes wisely get opinions outside the organization and often have
super specialists performing the surgery
Even not as an athlete but a medical professional, I would go with a disc replacement over a fusion
Old rule that 1/3 back surgery pts feel better, 1/3 stay the same, 1/3 get worse
This would apply mostly to fusions as disc replacements and microdissections work better and IMO fusions 1/3 getting better seems like a stretch
Good luck Jack... As a medical professional I 100% agree with the second opinion and YOUR decision instead of putting it in the hands of the Buffalo Sabres - doctordizzle
Too bad he gave away his right to decide his medical treatments for $80 million |

Cant have players whp make millions bad mouth teams who pay them . because they are bad.all are trying ...
Eickel should have kept quiet now he is and has been damaged goods.DRS said the surgery HE WANTS , IS NOT THE RIGHT OPTION.... A bad neck is no way to play hockey . Buffalo will not get full value but sometime a team and organization is more important.than winning . |

I would be thrilled if they traded Eichel to Calgary or Winnipeg. For a draft pick. |

Yeah throwing 5 yrs of $10M Cap-space down the toilet is an awesome move.
Who says Hockey is a Business?

Maybe the reason the Sabres haven't traded Eichel isn't because they haven't tried or the asking price is too high. Maybe it's because there isn't sufficient clarity for other teams to justify spending $10 million a year on a guy with a broken neck who is open to only one form of tratment. They need to find a team that has the cap space, need for a first line center, assets to provide in return and that accept the risk of disk replacement. That's a tall order. |

I don't know the source but the article specifically says a source told him they might sign deals similar to Dahlin's $9m deal. |

I was chatting with my brother and we were trying to remember the last time there was a player/club shit storm of this magnitude, for a star-caliber player. We couldn't think of a single instance.
What situation are we forgetting? - WayneZ
Lindros draft and duchesse in Colorado was tense. Not this bad. |

The Sabres, as inept and poorly run as they are, are doing what any other team would do in this situation.
This was collectively bargained. The NHLPA would have received something for surrendering the rights for players to determine their medicals outside of team doctors. |

Regardless of who the captain is for the Sabres. Buffalo is not going to get a haul they desire back. They have an injured player that openly does not want to be there and has a massive contract that is going to take a lot of maneuvering for most teams.
