Uh, no. Hockey players make what they make because they are the best of the best at a job that the public pays billions of dollars each year to watch them do. Period.

If danger and risk of injury really paid that well then firefighters (and a long list of other blue collar workers) would be millionaires, too.

Okay, my bad, great point but firefighters aren’t working for billionaires to be well Compensated. With this said, who willingly wants surgery unless they’re feeling real discomfort? He’s not looking for plastic boobs or thicker lips. He’s looking to not get blindsided on the ice. I have zero problem with what Eichel is doing.

Yes, but I know how the team played in 2019 and I believe they are a much better team now than in 2019, so I feel this team's ceiling is to win their division and to make the final 4. Once in the final 4, anything can happen.

This is the million dollar question, was the 2019 a fluke, or was the 2020 team a fluke. We shall see. They were awesome for half of the 2019 season, they could beat anyone the way they were playing.

Never said he didn't have potential. And if you go by what it was before he was drafted, then I see Foerster as a swing for the fences type player. Either he is going to be a top six sniper because of his booming and accurate shot, or he wont be anything at all because he cant keep up.

I hope it is the former.

It’s tough to judge until the same amount of time passes. Yes hex drafted some good players. And some bad ones. Tk and some others are much older. We will have to wait another two years to see if cf picks come through. Hex had some higher draft picks as well. Time will tell. Development timelines are different.

Also. Tyson skating has improved. Speed demon….no. But I think he will be fine.

If I had to be honest and give a true assessment I'd have to say that the 2019 team was more of a fluke. I just think that they got on a hot streak and everyone was playing well at the same time. Hell, even Grant looked like a world beater when he came over from Anaheim. They were actually Cup favorites there for awhile! Now look at this team on paper over the last 5 years or so. Does that really look like a Cup contending team? I think they were just on a hot streak that teams get on. Then they had those round robin exhibition games and everyone was sky high. Problem was that wasn't reality. When the real games started in the playoffs last year their same weaknesses quickly showed up. That's why I'm happy with the changes in the room for this upcoming season. It was badly needed!!

Not a single player Fletcher has drafted has made any real impact yet. For one it's two soon. Hextall drafted Hart, the teams #1 goalie. Provorov, the teams top defenseman. Farabee who has a real chance to be a strong all around player and a 30 goal scorer. Konecny who already has been a 24 goal, 60 point player with the potential for more. Frost who has a chance to be a top 6 center. Sanheim, who is a top 4 defenseman. Not to mention players like Allison and Lindblom.

I don't see how the players that Fletcher drafted have more potential.

- MJL

Yet all that talent Saint Ronnie drafted they missed the playoffs again. All while the vets carried that sorry team. Being the teams #1 goalie while being the worst goalie in the league is a great feat. He was an average drafter give or take.

You always talk about the NHL players Ronnie drafted. Yet never or rarely mention the ones he whiffed on. Odd.

They won’t let him? They are physically restraining him? Seems to me he can just go get the surgery done.

Eichel just wants out of Buffalo. Simple as that. Just like #88 wanted out of Philly. Sometimes people just want to move on (for good reason) but they choose the most embarrassing, dramatic way of going about it.

Neither Eichel nor the team are really entitled to much sympathy or leeway considering how they happily dragged their divorce into the streets.

- Tomahawk

i agree totally. both sides look bad. something rubs me the wrong way about a player publicly demanding a trade early into his new deal that's paying him 80M.

You didn’t remotely clarify why you called him a baby. You just claimed you nobody called him a baby when you did.

What you don’t seem to understand is nobody knows what’s going on between Eichel vs the Sabers. I don’t think it’s all separate situations. I think it’s piled into one. So you choosing why he’s a baby or isn’t a baby is silly. He just wants out of Buffalo.

- SuperSchennBros

yikes. i didn't say no one called him a baby, again. neither of us called him a baby because he wants to get the surgery he wants though. i completely understand that part.

as for not understanding that nobody knows what's going on, umm this whole thing has been public. so that's false.

He made some good picks. No superstars or high end players imo. Players who you will need if you go on to win a cup. Clearly he also made bad ones. Thats the how it goes.

I have no idea how other teams do outside the 2nd rd off the top of my head. That is where a GM needs to make his mark. Your 1st rd picks should be NHL players. Now you wlll miss on occasion.

Jack is a leader. To ask out he should be commended. He doesnt want to waste his career in that terrible organization.

Prior to the injury any links where he publicly demanded a trade?

Apparently it is. So what? He’s not playing without getting it fixed and he’s not willing to get the fusion. This is a very wealthy young man who’s probably in a lot of discomfort. Just go get it fixed.

He did, but to me a good GM doesnt whiff or reach on 1st round picks. missing on a 1st rounder should happen like once in 8 drafts, it happens but not frequent. Hextall did it with Rubstov, Patrick, and maybe O'brien(jury is still out on that one). The part that bugs me with hextall the most is he had no grasp of the locker room, and how players fit together, didnt see the culture issue, constant slow starts from the team. Chuck is all over that

In reality, he can. The consequences of doing so, from a hockey contract standpoint, would be messy - even messier than things are right now. He and the team need to come to an agreement on the surgery or the team needs to trade him to a team that agrees with his perspective on the issue.

Because they can use that as an excuse to justify not paying him.
