Deshaun Watson is not in breach of contract - Hank Balling
The Watson comparison is an excellent one. An argument can be made that he is actually less tradeable than Eichel yet Miami and others are said to be lining up to get him. He will get a giant haul, as will Eichel.

Isn't Watson being Investigated for sexual assault?
Is there any chance that the young core is ok with Eichs being gone? Just a theory but maybe Eichel wasn't liked in the locker room. He seems very regimented & intense. Nothing wrong with that, but maybe he expected the same out of everyone which created friction? I just recall that article a few years ago where he detailed his game day routine. Crazy. Every second of the day was accounted for, but he seemed to be in his own bubble with no mention of any activities with his teammates. No soccer in the hallway or anything that most NHLers do before a game. Everyone prepares their own way, and as long as the effort and execution is there on the ice, who cares if a guy likes to chill on game day? Eichs might have been a locker room nazi. Just a theory, because I've played with guys like that and it was never my style. I really didn't like to focus on the game until my gear was on and the zamboni was on the ice.
Obviously, I'd prefer a happy Eichel leading this team but we are way beyond that ever happening again so I am grasping at theories that will make this situation a positive for the guys still here.

Helped Power at the worlds.... not sure how any of us know who the real leaders are.... We don't see interaction in locker rooms

can't argue that. You'd think you'd hear more about him after all his years in the NHL. I don't see it or hear it, but I don't have a basis to argue it.

He’s still in Houston because nobody is meeting their asking price.
Jack Eichel is still in Buffalo because nobody is meeting their asking price.
Both players will get decent returns but nothing close to what they are worth due to the organizations having zero leverage

As described by JS Dea, Eichel is a phenomenal talent and works his ass off and takes the game very seriously. But he is also a bad leader. Or, how it was phrased, there are better leaders in the league.

Ask JS Dea how the youngins feel about Jack. They absolutely need to get the best return for him, but I can't help but believe that, personality-wise and when it comes to Jack's (lack of) "leadership", not having him there is addition by subtraction.

i dont think there is any doubt about it that he is less tradable. he may have to go to jail. he probably wont but he might

Its actually not a great comparable at all.
One is a legal proceeding.
If found guilty, goes to jail and ends up never playing again.
If found innocent is a top 5 QB in the NFL and will get treated as such.
Eichel is all about if he will ever be able to return to form again after a very serious surgery.

The comments from Dea lead me to believe no one left in that lockerroom is going to fall on their sword over Eichel's predicament. I think everyone understands he tried to implode his own value to force the trade, that alone might mean he has
more enemies than friends on the team at this point.
Maybe I'm wrong, but if I was in Olo's shoes and Jack was going to cost me a couple million on my next contract, I wouldn't want him in the damn building.
almost every pick GMTM made was wrong. beyond the 1st round he was terrible and only found a gem when he said eff it i will listen to some random european scout

GMTM set the organization back further than that IMO - SabresFaninIndiana
Take a look down draft memory lane and look at Darcy and Tim's drafts. There's no question why the team lies where it does.
The Sabres were good in the mid 2000's because Darcy drafted a great supporting core and found Briere and Drury to get them over the top and lead them. What's been done since is not that.
