Wrong. They would have no leverage if no other teams wanted him. There are lots of teams that want him. He'll get the surgery and everything will be fine. - Slump Buster

I want to disagree but know I can't.
Kyvyn claimed guys like Dahlin, Cozens and Mittelstadt were excited about the opportunity. So. Whatever that's worth. - TheSabresTaco

I can't speak to any of their situations, I don't know enough about them. Vancouver has 11 million to get their two guys under contract, and I'm willing to bet a lot that the players want UFA term and the team doesn't. UFA term = Money, something Vancouver doesn't have enough of. - TheSabresTaco
For sure.
I still find it a bit odd that dahlin isnt here for camp. Definitely a leader, or should be leader....
I agree with your explanation, but theres a void of leadership....
Noticed mitts and cozens hanging around last week and working with the team. Both under contract.... |

It seems the situation is EXACTLY what medical arbitration is for, but is it only the player that can initiate that process, or can the team do it?
I mean, the team and/or the NHL should be stepping in and forcing medical arbitration so both sides clearly know how to proceed within the league rules and the CBA, right? Why is this not happening?
I'll hang up and listen. |

Wrong.
The giant point in this is the Sabres have next to no leverage because they have a super star that does not want to play another game for the franchise and everyone on plant earth knows that. - Pegullaville
But actually false. Jack won't sit on the sidelines for five years. No one in hockey wants that.

This is a very good post.
Probably why we gave dahlin everything he wanted. |

It's a small step towards turning the page from this hellscape of a decade. It's their team, and they don't have a leader who isn't actually a leader poisoning their mindsets. Don't care what team on, if you have a guy that doesn't want to be there, that's only negative.

they should
he did not get the surgery during the offseason and is no better off now then he was in March
I'd sue, it's not like they are getting back together , ever - homiedclown
If Eichel is set on his preferred path then he should present his argument via arbitration and live with the decision.
Or he can sit and not get his bonus |

Today, that leadership is Okposo and Girgensons. Say what you want about them, but they are the ones today.

the fact he did not have the surgery nor did he file for arbitration, should void any bonus |

He’s already made close to $30M pre tax playing hockey not including any endorsements.
What’s sacrificing a little bonus money when in the end you’re going to get paid by someone regardless ?

disagree
refused to have team surgery and refused to go to medical arbitration
if he had the sabres surgery, probably would be healthy and ready for training camp |

I think he is. He's unavailable and unwilling to undergo the team-prescribed procedure |

next step, turn data over to lawyers for off ice issues

Typically the player initiates the process to receive their preferred method of surgery. The only reasonable explanation that I can think of is that both his old agents and new agent think that he will lose outright in an arb hearing. That says a lot.
