Jack Eichel is no longer the Buffalo Sabres' captain.
That's not surprising seeing as Eichel wants to be traded, but it further cements that the Sabres are moving on even before he's been dealt. Meanwhile, Eichel failed his physical as expected, which will allow the team to put him on the injured reserve list. He needs surgery, but the Sabres and Eichel disagree on what surgery he should have, so Eichel isn't expected to have an operation until the Sabres trade him.

probably be a while until one is chosen. Wouldn't be surprised if there is no captain the entire season, maybe 2.

Its going to be Okposo, he will be able to handle the questions.


If i could get odds of the first question of the Sabres next captain is "Have you talked to Eichel" I would be everything i have on it.

I too don't like the idea of not having one, but I also agree that the C shouldn't just be carelessly thrown to someone.

I liked what Rayzer had to say yesterday. The guy with the C (usually) best represents the team publicly, but is hardly 'the guy' in the locker room that the guys shut up and listen to and commands the most respect from.

I've been saying this since the news came out about Eichel's need for a surgery. I have a hard time getting past that the surgeon that has performed the most disc replacement surgeries in the United States is against this surgery.

I wonder why that is.

It's the exact reason why this hasn't gone to medical arbitration because how do you argue against him.

And it’s seriously crazy to me that the Sabres have one of the best spinal doctors in the world looking at Eichel. Yet all of the twitter doctors and fans think we are being dumb

If for everything you know about Eichel.. his feelings, his term remaining..

Can you imagine him turning down almost any team?

Of course he gets some say at that point, but if Adams says, hey, this is the best offer by far, I'm not accepting any of these other ones.. You think Jack will say 'hmm, ok, think I'll just stay with the Sabars!" With his term, I think the team has some say, too. Not like they do now, and they know it.
