That's all anyone has been talking about is the situation gets so bad the Sabres just terminate the contract or somehow Jack wins in a arb case.

You are not getting full value, situation sucks but it is what it is at this point.


The distraction is going to sink this team and its young talent.

Jack walks for nothing in five years. That simply won't happen and they know that it can't.

On a personal note, I will petition to abolish the Sabres blog if a ROR return happens.

I heard KA say he cares about Jack the person more then the hockey player. At this point is a pissing match, let Eichel have his surgery, get some assets and move on. You are never going to get Value for Jack No Matter what.

Because the media will care. They are going to hammer on this until there is a resolution.

We just saw the opening press conference to each the coach and GM.

Every question was about Jack Eichel.

That is not going to change.

So if all the medical experts say fusion is the best way to fix Jack and Jack still refuses, when do the Sabres get to cancel his contract or suspend him without pay for conduct detrimental to the team?

The Sabres could trade Eichel today for a better package that they got for ROR, really wouldn't be hard to beat. Decent isn't good enough, I want a really good package and think Adams will still get one. Someone will fold be it 2 weeks or 2 months Etc. from now.

The CBA states that the team makes the final decision. The players agreed. When the team disagrees with your surgery, and can't negotiate a compromise with alternative opinions, this is where we lay. Jack resisting the what is clearly majority opinion is in fact him resisting.

Eichel won't be here long term. Everyone, everyone, and everyone, wants a solution.

Those two things don't work well together.

Of course he gets some say at that point, but if Adams says, hey, this is the best offer by far, I'm not accepting any of these other ones.. You think Jack will say 'hmm, ok, think I'll just stay with the Sabars!" With his term, I think the team has some say, too. Not like they do now, and they know it.

Whether Jack is healthy or not healthy, how does that change the Sabres bargaining position ?

Jack is still making $10M per year and everyone, their sister, and their brother know that the situation is unsalvageable and the Sabres are negotiating from a position of weakness.

That's not surprising seeing as Eichel wants to be traded, but it further cements that the Sabres are moving on even before he's been dealt. Meanwhile, Eichel failed his physical as expected, which will allow the team to put him on the injured reserve list. He needs surgery, but the Sabres and Eichel disagree on what surgery he should have, so Eichel isn't expected to have an operation until the Sabres trade him.

No but they don't have to be mutually exclusive either. Plenty of disgruntled players have been traded for great value. "unreasonable" is not the same as "resisting" though. It's Eichel's right to not want to have the majority recommended surgery. It just means that another team will have to accept it before he moves. Which hasn't happened yet.
