it's an unwinnable situation for the sabres - Michael Pachla
Its going to make the situation around the team so much more toxic.
Every player now is going to be asked about this.
I'm sorry for whomever gets the C next.

According to several reports and sources over the summer, the disk replacement is an unpopular choice in the medical community for Jack's specific issue. This is why we are here right now. |

So if all the medical experts say fusion is the best way to fix Jack and Jack still refuses, when do the Sabres get to cancel his contract or suspend him without pay for conduct detrimental to the team? |

dr. cappuccino is the sabres specialist in all of this:
"Dr. Cappuccino has performed more disc replacements than any other surgeon in the USA. He is internationally in demand to teach spine surgery techniques and, through his research, is dedicated to improving spinal surgery outcomes and technologies.
Dr. Cappuccino has been and is an investigator in numerous studies and trials dedicated to improving spinal surgery outcomes and technologies. He is a sought after teacher of spine surgery techniques internationally. He has taught surgeons all over Europe, South America, Australia, Africa and Asia. He has authored numerous spine surgery textbook chapters and journal articles, contributing his expertise to spine doctors everywhere. Dr. Cappuccino has been a principle investigator on international teams of doctors who have developed artificial disc replacements for the neck and back. As an individual, he has performed more disc replacements than any other surgeon in the USA.
As the attending surgeon who operated on paralyzed Buffalo Bill Kevin Everett and who then coordinated his care, he was nationally recognized for Mr. Everett's recovery.

they can do that whenever.... but he still is a huge part of the rebuild, they want to get something in return for him. they may end up getting almost nothing considering the way he is acting |

I suppose rock bottom could be lower. The best scenario is to find a team that trusts disk replacement and provides an acceptable return. Or I guess see if he heals without surgery in several months, which sucks.

He makes a very good point about team doctors though.
Just look at the NFL, doctors do what is best for the team, They shoot up players so full of pain meds so they can play and if they lose a finger they don't feel it.
Team doctors work for the team. |

You need one team with a quality offer to accept that surgery. That clearly hasn't happened yet. Imagine the implosion here if we trade him for scraps. (frank)ing think about it for like, one second. - TheSabresTaco

I've been saying this since the news came out about Eichel's need for a surgery. I have a hard time getting past that the surgeon that has performed the most disc replacement surgeries in the United States is against this surgery.
I wonder why that is.
It's the exact reason why this hasn't gone to medical arbitration because how do you argue against him. |

yeah, it's pretty simple, he comes off as a douche and thinks he's cool...not a good combination in my book...
but he has a cadre of loyal followers |

In a negotiation you have a certain point you won't go past. The Sabres set that, they cannot let this be ROR all over again.

YAll get way to invested in radio hosts.
I think he is probably their best on air show talent.
Maybe thats the issue?

Yes, they are on the team's payroll. But also, he'd be traded if the Sabres team doctors were in the minority of opinion.
Also keep in mind that one of the doctors on the Sabres is actually a spine care specialist.

That's all anyone has been talking about is the situation gets so bad the Sabres just terminate the contract or somehow Jack wins in a arb case.
You are not getting full value, situation sucks but it is what it is at this point.
The distraction is going to sink this team and its young talent. |

Jack walks for nothing in five years. That simply won't happen and they know that it can't.
On a personal note, I will petition to abolish the Sabres blog if a ROR return happens. |
