Absolutely correct.
Any analysis done whether technical, fundamental, speculative the best we can do is try to generate a probability of something happening and hedge in case we are wrong.
What probability would you put at this current time of Buffalo getting a great return for Eichel given the recent turmoil ? - Pegullaville

Too many variables to make an educated determination. All it takes is one team to accept his preferred method of surgery and that same team to offer a return worth or close to worth Jack Eichel as a sum of the parts. Unfortunately it appears that his situation has and is evolving.. surgery, no surgery, will it heal on its own, etc. It sounds like there's more clarity. 'He needs surgery', which is actually a positive step. Now it comes to, what teams are offering what surgeries and are they ok with missing at least half a season without him.
Or do all teams need to say 'I need to see him play first'? If so, you're stuck.

Good they had the ball to take the c from him !! First good move they have made!! |

I think the org and Jack would allow games to be played in a Sabres jersey in order to facilitate a trade if that were the only way. I think it's the 'pull chute in case of emergency' option, though. - TheSabresTaco
Let Jack have his way on the surgery, play for the team this season, then move him seems like the only compromise. I wish that report from a few weeks ago was true.

You think there's actually a negotiation here? - Lunaion
Yes I do, unless Adams is bald faced lying when he said he speaks to the agent multiple times a day.

All the signs say nothing is moving at all. "Right direction" and "moving forward" are just empty expressions. - Lunaion
Is it always raining where you are? That has to be rough.
It'll get done.

The way it sounds to me is, if there's negotiating, it's which teams are willing to bet on Eichel being Eichel and allowing his preferred method. His preference is not happening in Buffalo, unless there's a written agreement in place with another team for a trade post surgery.

disc replacement surgery has never been tried on an nhl player...allowing him to get that surgery is allowing him to be a guinea pig |

It rains when KA speaks. That's about 4 times a year.

Sabres hold the cards for 10 more months.
They also missed several opportunities the past 12 months to get good value for him. - Pegullaville
You have absolutely no idea what opportunities they had to move eichel.
For good value....
How about great value or no trade.
Only helps the franchise to lose this year by punting the assets. |

I look forward to the return of a lottery protected first, 2023 2nd, and a teams third best prospect |

KAGM wouldn’t know good value if it slapped him in the face.
Cody Eakin, Toby Reider, and Jack Quinn agree. - Pegullaville
Still did not answer the question that was posed to you. Just saying.
I am very interested in seeing what offers were solid? Or are/were they all hypothetical situations to see if you could further conversations? |

I think he’s using the disk replacement surgery as a quasi NTC and the second he’s dealt he’ll just get the fusion.
He’s doing whatever he can to get out of Buffalo ASAP |

That's a little strong. It has been used on professional athletes and professional hockey players (but not NHL players). Sabres certainly have their case, but this isn't experimental.
Neither side is wrong here.

Only person who knows is KAGM and the people in that front office.
I’m not giving the benefit of the doubt to KAGM and I’d just did my take on probabilities. |

There is a medical cost to either surgery. What is the Sabres' health insurance company saying? Are they willing to approve either procedure? NO ONE is paying for this out of pocket. There just may be a third party authorization standing in the way. You know, cause that is how it works with health care procedures. PRIOR AUTHORIZATION SIGN OFF.
Just a thought. |

Just for kicks, how would it play out this way? Jack gets healthy and.... nobody raises their offer?

Jack is owed $50m on his deal. I as an owner would not want to see a $50m investment be the first NHL player to have this surgery done on them. If Gus wants it? Fine. Joker? Sure. But not Jack |

He speaks fairly regularly and he seems genuine. A lot of what he says is to put a certain light on things but that comes with the territory. It's a long offseason - what would you like him to say? Hell, we don't have anything to talk about here - I can't imagine trying to give new info when there isn't any.

If he can score 40 goals a year and be fairly quiet, I am ok with it.

No body is paying up for a guy who’s going to miss most of the season
If they keep him until next offseason, no one is paying up for a guy who hasn’t played hockey in a year and a half.
No one is paying up unless he gets healthy and plays NHL games as a Sabre, and by stripping the C off him that effectively ends any chance of that happening |
