Kravstov was just ranked the number 34 prospect and the stud prospect all Sabres fans would want in an Eichel package, Nils Lundkvist, was ranked 26. So they are fairly similar in value. - rangerdanger94
that's one (if true, source?)...although we may differ on what constitutes "good"...i think it's less than good

Did anything fundamentally change? It's the same stalemate with fewer public statements. - Lunaion
At a high level nothing change but I think it definitely did change. Jack hired a guy that has a history of getting things done. The Sabres seemed to have agreed to buttoning this up. The "insiders" are indicating that there seems to be a different feel to it all. It seems like things are trending in the right direction rather than the tire fire it was earlier this year.
Minnesota, LA, Anaheim, Calgary, Columbus, NYR, Montreal, Vegas have all had varying interest.
Who knows how many teams under the surface made calls.
They have prolly had half the league call them with varying interest but the Sabres still have Eichel.
So either 25% + of the leagues GM’s are full of crap or KAGM is overplaying his hand - Pegullaville
If you were in a GMs position, and could get a dollar asset, with injury call it 80 cents, you wouldn't be doing your job if you didn't call and offer 20 cents. It's been reported that Minnesota wouldn't offer Rossi OR Boldy, how strong do you think their offer really was?
There wasn't a fundamental change rather a circumstantial one.
Make no mistake, taking a raging blaze down to a smoldering fire is very helpful in a negotiation even when the fundamental hasn't changed. - gcomella34

I think the issue is that Buffalo wants a return for fully healthy Eichel and 31 other teams are trying to trade for the Eichel who needs surgery, just failed a physical and had his captaincy revoked

Serious question, if all those teams have say offered a b level prospect and a first round pick for Eichel, are you legit mad that Adams didn’t accept the offer?
If there were legit proposals leaked by teams that featured multiple young players and picks, I’d 100% agree that Adams overplayed, but we have no idea what’s been offered, so I can’t see how you can say the Sabres missed some big opportunity.
in buffalo's case, the tank was a bad tree that couldn't bear good fruit - Michael Pachla
Has there been any tank in recent history that has turned out well?
Like literally any team that purposely sold everything off to actively try and lose?
Even the Maples Leafs and Oilers cant find any postseason success still.
A truly successful rebuild never starts with a tank. It starts with building a good culture that shows that winning matters, and brings prospects up through the system, whether they are 1st overall or not, in that culture.

That’s all well and good, and a trade in the middle should be explored. As clearly KA isn’t taking the bucket of berglunds TM Baller that you just offered.

Pittsburgh, getting Crosby and Malkin turned out pretty well I’d say.

I don't think he is overplaying his hand. He is patient. At some point Jack is likely going to be healthy again. If someone wants to pony up before then, great. If not... it's going to be quite a bidding war if/when he gets healthy.

that's the way it's supposed to be...if i'm a gm, i'm looking to get jack on the cheap...if i'm the sabres, i want to get the most value i can from a trade...the former has a ceiling as to high how they're willing to go...the latter has a floor as a bare minimum...

What's the direction? Neither side has given an inch on surgery. A trade is getting more difficult and less likely by the day.

I didn’t see anything on Boldy, I know they wouldn’t move Rossi.
Boldy + would have been very intriguing.
The Wild have one of the best prospect pools in the league.
