Yet the Sabres just came out and said about 2 hours ago that this situation is all Jack Eichels fault?
HOw is that helping. - ImThatGuy
the nhlpa gave teams the hammer when it comes to medical treatment...plain and simple...if he doesn't like it, he can go to medical arb...but he hasn't |

This is an option, but realistically, they're going to work with him.
Today's presser sounded WAY different than the previous "we hold all the cards" one.
Really think there was a really contentious behind the scenes relationship that spilled over. - gcomella34
yes...they're going to work with him and his new agent to come to an amicable conclusion, but to say the sabres have no power isn't correct |

Sabres hold the cards for 10 more months.
They also missed several opportunities the past 12 months to get good value for him.

They are still paying him 10m per. It's not much of a hammer.
Everyone is calling KA's bluff here, and his hand just keeps getting weaker.

I’ve never seen a worse start by a GM/management over two offseason’s, maybe in all of sports.

I'm a little confused by some of the post in this thread. Every site I look at shows that Eichel's NMC doesn't kick in until next year. At the moment Adam's should be free to trade him to any team in the league. |

It's been catastrophic. I don't know how people can defend it.

I don't get where all of the sword swallowers here think that the sky has fallen and some big opportunity has been missed. They are gambling that he will be healthy before the end of the season, which I think is a good gamble. That in itself isn't incompetence.

People here discussing his NMC are referring to next offseason.

It's not Jack has all the power of the org has all the power. It's a blend. And you don't WANT it to go the nuclear route.
It's better for ALL parties if everyone just kind of takes a step back and takes a breath.
It sounds like Jack firing his agent and logging off Twitter was a start. |

Instigators is a good listen today. A lot of good perspective from Marty, who can relate to what's happening here. Give it a listen. |

Guess you didn’t hear the part where he told Benning to Frank himself and told him either Chicago or Anaheim right after I guess.
Good thing they didn’t get more from Pittsburgh before that happened. - Pegullaville
I sure did. Listened to the whole thing. And yeah, he got his way in the end, much like we would expect Eichel to (really depends on "what his way" is. Most think it's just get me the (frank) outta here). But man, Kesler didn't get his way right away, Vancouver didn't bend the knee for a subpar return, and they got something to their liking from Anaheim. Good thing his situation is exactly how I've been saying all along. You act like I'm saying Eichel doesn't have any power, while I'm actually just saying he doesn't have all of it, much like Kesler didn't. Also, you can hear it in his voice, he's pissed off he didn't get traded to Pitt and missed out on a cup, still, 7 years later. So yeah, color me skeptical that "he got his way" |

Did anything fundamentally change? It's the same stalemate with fewer public statements.

Yea but Eichel is different, Buffalo has all the Power. - ImThatGuy
They do have all the Power, Owen Power.
But seriously, she me once where I haven't tried to elicit that with a NMC Buffalo has all the power. I will delete my account if you want me to. I have said repeatedly that a NMC gives close to a 50/50 split in power, maybe even leaning the players way. |

There wasn't a fundamental change rather a circumstantial one.
Make no mistake, taking a raging blaze down to a smoldering fire is very helpful in a negotiation even when the fundamental hasn't changed. |

Kravstov + Georgiev + Jones + 1st
Kravstov was just ranked the number 34 prospect and the stud prospect all Sabres fans would want in an Eichel package, Nils Lundkvist, was ranked 26. So they are fairly similar in value. |

Ah the ol' Vitali "can't score above .5 ppg in any league above the VHL, but is a can't miss prospect" Kravstov post. Save time, no. |
