So the team has final say (I wrote it as has to first agree) but somehow the player has 100% of the power. Do you not see how those two things cannot compute or go hand in hand? - SDSabre
A NMC means the player has final say where he goes. |

Yeah, because it was getting something (second rounder) or nothing (nothing). Huge difference in length of contract. They will eventually get something for Eichel, as I don't see this dragging on for 5 years (although could you imagine the spectacle for 5 years) - SDSabre
Sure, but as 89 has mentioned, there are only a few teams offering to trade for him now.
If Calgary has the best offer and Eichel says no thanks I want to play only for Boston, New York, or a couple of other teams and make it work, it still has a negative effect.
Adams may have gotten better trade offers this past draft then what we may trade Eichel for in the future |

Hot take :
Eichel was never really that great. He was pretty good - that's it. I feel he never lived up to the hype/potential. Always felt like this.
Get what you can for him at this point.
(Edit : I feel this way about Dahlin as well. He's certainly not been the guy in all the pre-draft videos) |

Eichel’s 2019/2020 season was pretty special considering Olofsson was useless for the most part 5v5 and Ralph was his coach.
Eichel is a top 10 Center whom could be in the conversation for top 5 when healthy in the right situation |

sure stick it To Eichel.
GO and listen to what Marty Biron just said to start instigators.
Go ahead and piss off Jack Eichel and his agents.
His agent is now the most powerful one in the sport.
Good luck dealing with that agent when I don't know, you have to sign Owen power, or any other player. - ImThatGuy
Owen Power or any other player has ZERO to do w Jack Eichel. It's a business. |

Hot Take, the Sabres have nearly ruined every player they have drafted in the past 10 years.
its no coincidence that they have virtually no players from any draft in the past 10 years.
The Sabres suck at developing talent. |

Sure seems like he passed on his best opportunity to move on. Now he's a guy with no plan and few options. It's sad to watch. |

Dahlin's going to the KHL. Lol, didn't happen.
Owen Power isn't going to be happy in Buffalo. Power: "I would love to be a part of the Buffalo Sabres. Nice and close to home. I know they've got a rich history. It would be an honor to play for them and to get drafted by them."
The Doom and Gloom crowd worries about crap for almost no reason. |

So does a team have any say? And if they do, how does the player have 100% say. A NMC puts it closer to a 50/50 standing, maybe even leaning more the players way. It does not, however, give 100% to the player. At all. |

Sure, and he could still get better trade offers before the NMC kicks in, or he might get the best offer after the NMC kicks in. I'm only fighting the notion that everything is doomed if a resolution hasn't happened by July 1st 2022 and we have to settle for a 7th rounder because NmC. |

If agents took poop personal, they wouldn't be good representation as they know, at some point, they will be representing a client who doesn't have a NMC to whip a team with. It's almost like you can't just say "I have the power now, obey or I will forever not work with 1/32 entities that I can work with on the entire planet." |

Find me the last player to not say what you just posted above. Eli Manning maybe?
Mike Vick was going to sign in Buffalo, he was instructed not to, signed in Philly.
Buffalo was a place players avoided during the Darcy Regier years because of how they treated their players. listen to Craig Rivet talk about his first years in Buffalo and how bad it was.
Treating your players like crap is a certain way to not get players in teh future.

Okay, Sabres say we have offers on the table.
Florida
Ottawa
Calgary
Anaheim
Arizona
Would you go to any of those teams.
Eichel: No.
What power did the Sabres have here? |

Go back to the Darcy days where players openly talked about how they wanted to avoid this organization.
Had nothing to do with the City and everything to do with the org itself.

6th choice is to stay in Buffalo. He doesn't magically get to no all the way to Boston just because he wants. Say Boston says "We have cap that won't work, and it'll cost us to trade away cap to make it work. We can only offer you a 2nd rounder at this time."
What does Buffalo do. O darn, ok fax it in. Me thinks not. |

The Sabres have treated Jack like crap? Puh-leez.
By your thought process, they should just fold the team, then. Or just fold the city of Buffalo. |

Seems we're already there. So what's your point. Has nothing to do with a NMC. Every team would handle a NMC in the best way possible, and that doesn't mean bending over backwards completely. The best offer might come from Boston. Or the second best and Eichel nixed the first. So be it. They aren't going to get him for a 1st and a cap dump. |

I'm not going to go that far, but everything this organization has touched for the past decade plus has turned to absolute poop. They do not deserve the benefit of the doubt. Until the prove otherwise, every decision they make should be assumed to be the wrong one.

No one is saying that.
They have been trying to trade Eichel for nearly 2 years basically.
Started taking calls last trade line, (NOt this past one)
They gave Eichel a full NMC clause.
They have had all the time in the world to trade him, if they fail that is on them.
If when his NTC clause kicks in they basically say we are not honoring that, and hold him hostage that does not end well for buffalo. - ImThatGuy
It’s so confusing as to what the plan is.
Let’s continue to crush his value while hoping a team is just gonna decide to offer more now than before?
We’re gonna get a hilariously bad return at this point.

No, I didn't miss it, because even though they could say that, it won't happen.
He wants to play. He wants to earn money. He'll agree to a deal.
And you seem to keep using the words "honor the NMC".
THEY DON'T HAVE TO TRADE HIM. They'll still be "honoring his contract". |

Fail to honor a NO MOVEMENT CLAUSE by not moving him to a preferred location? Man is that an insane stretch of how that works. |

Ryan Kesler came out publicly about his situation and how he used his NMC recently to facilitate a deal. I’m trying to find it as we speak.
