I don’t get the nmc being an issue at all, if Eichel wants out he’s gonna have to accept a trade to a less than desirable team (possibly).
Adams: we have a good trade from the ducks Jack we are going to trade you to Anaheim.
Jack: no I don’t want to go to Anaheim.
Adams: ok they I guess you are staying in Buffalo
Jack: Anaheim sounds good, thanks. - Sabres1523
No he doesnt, that's the power.
Buffalo has to HONROR THE CONTRACCT, since that seems to be the prevailing theme. |

I fail to see how getting nothing for Jack Eichel speeds up the rebuild.
I also don’t see why any free agent or draft pick would want to come to Buffalo if we hold players hostage. - Pegullaville
I'm not worried about free agents right now and I don't think they are either. They're going to build it through the draft, create that new culture and go from there. Free agents are the last thing on their minds for the next two years, I'm guessing. And, imo, that's the right thing to do. You'll see guys on one year deals to fill in a few gaps, but these kids are gong to take over. |

I can't see Eichel rejecting a trade anywhere if it means playing hockey again and getting the hell out of here - Hank Balling
Eichel says "ill go to Boston or NYR. Dont listen to any other offers because ill reject the trade, make it happen."
Buffalo has no choice. |

They offered Eichel a full NMC, they gave him all the power.
The Sabres offered and signed the contract.
Everyone wants to talk about honoring contracts, but when the Sabres lose power its "Well we can just tell him to shove it"
Cant have it both ways. - ImThatGuy
Agreed. But a full NMC doesn't mean Eichel can walk in and say I'm going to Boston, figure out a package. Not implying you are saying that, but it does go both ways. Guys get traded to undesirable locations and retire (Wash defenseman that the name is escaping, Russian lad, and of course Berglund). A NMC doesn't shift all the leverage to Eichel, but a good chunk sure. It really would come down to does he really want to stay here, which the overriding thought is no. |

held hostage?
Jack told the sabres fire disco dan or I will not sign a contract with this club
they fired Disco sucks, Jack signs for 80 mil
Jack chose to sign for 8 years at 10 mil per
then he cries twice says he wants out in private, and takes it back the next day both times
then he gets hurt this year, and refuses to get the surgery, refuses to go to medical arbitration, and demands the team trades him for pennies on the dollar
and because he refused the surgery, he is unable to compete at training camp today
I think you need to look up the definition to see who held who hostage |

Buffalo would be the first team in history not to honor a full NMC.
Remember when Rick Nash only wanted to go to NYR.
Remember when Taylor Hall only wanted to go to Boston. |

I disagree, if he wants out as bad as presumed. He might block a trade to, like say, Arizona or something, but he can't just say I want to go here, figure it out. Buffalo would just counter with "No". End of discussion, hope that LTIR is treating you nicely. |

Again, I'm pretty sure he'd go anywhere. If he's willing to take it that far though, he's risking not playing for 2+ years in the prime of his career. |

buffalo also has several months where they can trade him to any team
when the 2022 offseason begins, the sabres also then have the rights to do nothing and force Jack to rot in Buffalo, or the KHL |

I mean, 1 year rental for 20 some odd games, 2 against Buffalo who had already locked down last vs sending to a rival for 4+ years. Can't tell if you are serious, or just arguing to argue. It is immensely different, and I'll leave it at that. |

Apples and oranges.
If Jack wants out bad enough, he's going to consider every scenario the Sabres throw at him. The guy simply doesn't want to play here anymore. How bad that desire is will be evident if this reaches next July. |

Oh my gosh. You don't honor Sh!t after the way hes handled this whole situation.
Funny thing is Jack would be gone by now if he didn't bring that attitude and the BS to the year end interviews.

Just because he has a nmc doesn’t mean they have to trade him, he’s also under contract and is not complying with what the team is asking him to do.
If they have a good trade to send him somewhere he doesn’t want to go, it’s his choice to use the clause they gave him, but that doesn’t mean the Sabres have to turn around and deal him for peanuts. |

The Sabres had a better offer on the table for Hall.
Hall said no im not going there.
Buffalo didnt just say okay you can rot in buffalo for the rest of teh year, they took a lesser offer to HONOR THE CONTRACT. |

Buffalo would have gotten more from Vegas but Hall nixed the deal.
Eichel has the power to nix any deal if he is still here a year from now.
Time remaining on the contract is irrelevant |
