Yup. Their 2 best players aren't there
- Jkuzzi

...and if JB signed them for what they are asking earlier, you'd have a different "worst gm in sports history" narrative.

Again after all the garbage from all the previous years, wouldn't you just want to start camp with no controversy? It's just incredible. I know they will be signed. They won't have training camps they will be behind the 8 ball. Just frick me do it normal for once make the push have the team together have good juju and give it your best shot. Coach I'm sure is pissed guysnin the room yeah they are happy with the moves but they aren't happy their buddies aren't signed. Just do the job properly Jim Benning

I think the best solution to making you happy is not to draft high end talent who are going to be using comparables of other high end players for their 2nd contract. That way they can easily be low balled because paying them what they ask for also would bring angst.

All sarcasm aside, JB has done well re-signing his young RFA's. If they miss most of camp one season to save cap space for several seasons, so be it. This is what a competent GM does. This is the only leverage EP and QH have and they are going to use it.

The city of Edson Alta had a large Covid party to try to reach herd immunity . Now all the ICU units in Edson and Edmonton are full capacity. It worked

Authorities of Alta asking Oilers and Flames not to play to full capacity at the arenas due to risk factor .

Pass....Eichel is two years older and although he's one of the most gifted offensive players in the league, the Canucks need those two extra years to become competitive again with their young players not hitting their stride yet.

it doesnt need to happen until the regular season starts
- neem55

Obviously. I think we were assuming that the players didn’t sign until after the season had started.

How do you know what they are asking for? They both will sign new contracts, some people will be happy about it, others will whine about the amount (or $ or years), it’s inevitable.

That’s a really good way to try and build bridges with a player you might need to bring back this year…

Not saying he should be the C still, but there is absolutely no reason to “announce” it.

Read a story about a woman in the US who was one of the outspoken anti mask/vaccine my body my right people who died in ICU from Covid. Could be urban legend (saw the link on Twitter), could be true (there has to be at least one person who was against all this who has died). That’s a tough lesson to learn first hand. Sad.

Did he report for medical exams? As long as he doesn’t withhold services, they still need to pay him. If he fails his medical, and continues to disagree about treatment this could go on for a long time. As another team interested in acquiring him I wouldn’t make that trade until after the surgery, unless it was a cap dump and a 3rd for Eichle.

It is a hard lesson. Sometimes you need to use your head though. If it was Ebola would you attend a party hoping to reach immunity?
