Brady Tkachuk is greatly underrated
Deserves at least 8.5m
Wish we had him on LW

- mr.sir

I'm not going to pretend that I watch him regularly.

But he hasn't particularly stood out in the games I have seen him in. Regardless, forwards largely get paid for production - and he hasn't produced any better than a second line winger to date.

The thing with Tkachuk, for me, is the lack of progression.

He's already a very, very effective player and every single team would love having him and what he brings to the table.

But he's been pretty much the same since he entered the league, around a 50 points pace despite having every possible opportunity (first line minutes, first powerplay wave, offensive starts, etc.) to shine.

I think his demands are too high, but Ottawa cannot afford to lose him either. Should be an interesting situation.

Robertson Matthews Marner
Kerfoot Tavares Nylander
Gusev Kampf Kase
Ritchie Spezza Simmonds
Extra line: Bunting Amadio Anderson

(frank) Mikheyev and Engvall. Keefe doesnt like them anyways. Trade them for picks.

Rielly Brodie
Sandin Muzzin (force him to play RD)
Dermott Holl

Kral/Kivi/Lili/Mennel/Hollowell can fight for the 7th D. It’s now or never for Loljegren. Likely never.

Campbell game 1
Mrazek game 2
Go with whoever plays better.
Woll/Scott battle it out in camp. Trade the loser.

Yes and Mickey is an awesome player.

A 20 goal scorer who averages 0.63ppg, Im not sure that "at least" 8.5. That's about 51pts per 82.
I mean I hope Ottawa signs to 9m per....but he's only worth about 6 - 6.5 per.

Best power forward in hockey🤷
- mr.sir

I have to agree that Brady is a bit underrated. Not normally my thing to attach intangibles to players that effect games/outcomes, but I think he has an impact much greater than his "50 points" thats worth paying a premium for

Potential can be looked at several ways. Say your car is out of gas but you have a gas jug full of gas with you... However, you are not able to lift the gas jug to the fill spout. So, you really only have potential to get going again...

Nah, Leafs have the good fortune to have a good young forward group. Compare that to Minnesota. They just locked up 24 yr old Kaprizov at $9 M for five years. Add 30 point center Joel Eriksson at $5.25 M, 34 yr old Zuccarello at $6 M, and 31 yr old Spurgeon at $7.575 M for about $28 Million. Compare that to the Leafs top four and give yourself a shake. Now add the buyouts that Minnesota will pay for Parise and Suter for the next four years. $4.7M this season, $12.7 M next season and then (drumroll!) $14.7 M for the following two years. I bet they really wish they had the Leafs problem with salary cap.

That he doesn't even produce as much as Nylander.

Agreed. Not every 50 pt player is the same. I'm a supporter of Willie and he's a 60-70 pt guy but I'd take Brady every day of the week.

Svechnikov might be a good comp right now. 8 x 7.75. Factor in some Tkachuk ego and 8 x 8 or so is probably about right.

Not fair comparison though, Willie is a first line winger on a lot of teams, like Montreal.

Did you fall out of love with Korpisalo?

The nice thing about your lineup is that you'd have about $10m in cap space to try and fix that bizarre hellscape of a team! If you like hitting and clutching and grabbing, this is the team for you. Tkachuk, Anderson, Jenner, Wood, Cizikas and Bahl would have an espresso machine in the penalty box they'd be there so often!

I'll grant that the team would be a freaking nightmare to play against.
