Wow 5x9 for kaprizov

That doesn’t seem like a good deal for Minnesota

Agree with you 100%

Even tho he’s in his mid twenties he should still have to prove his skill for more than the one rookie year.

I like kerfoot but he just doesn’t have a role with this team. I don’t feel like he has enough offensive upside to play in the top 6.

He is also wasted in the bottom 6. I think a defensive shutdown guy can play the same role for less money.

- bryant

I like Kerfoot but he's an in betweener now that really doesn't have a role with Kampf in the line up.

If you do a 4th line for a shut down line and use the 3rd as a more offensive crash and bang line, the Leafs could go with:

Ritchie, Matthews, Nylander
Robertson/Bunting, JT, Marner
Bunting/Robertson, Spezza, Micheyev
Engvall, Kampf, Simmonds
Gabriel

Then you could lose/trade Kerfoot and try to fill out the D a bit before the season.
starts. A little better and younger Bogo with a POOP TON of snarl to his game.

He had a poor season, he could turn it around. Not his biggest fan but if he can find a little hockey sense he might be ok in the top 6.

Him and Engvall and a scorer wouldn’t be bad either.

Ya sorry, none of the new tryouts should push Kerfoot out of the line up before game 1

These contracts are getting out of hand.
$9million per for a player who played 1 year in the nhl and had 51 pts?

Hyman at (edit)5.5 per?

What are they doing?

Hyman is only 5.5 per season…. Still way too high and for too long (7 years)

Could have come cheaper when you kindly would have accepted the 4th-7th offered by Mr. Holland...

If I remember right it would have been 5 million per season for 8 years. Still too much imo

Rule number 1 of establishing a shut down line is that neither Simmonds nor Bunting get to be on it. Kamph, Kerfoot, Kase, Mikky and Engvall are the best options.

Interesting view... while a little injury-prone and blessed with high S%, Zach can play up and down the lineup, good for 30g/82gp - most 5v5... good value for $5M, but yes, he will not deliver that in 7-8 years.

I bet he reaches 30g once in that 7 year span. He better do it quick because I see him falling off a cliff in 3 years with his style of play.

Like I’ve been saying… the first two-three years should be fine but after that I think he’ll begin to fade downward rather quickly

Kirill Kaprizov's $9M AAV is the sixth highest among NHL players 24 years old or under. It's the 18th highest among all NHL forwards.

He's played 55 games. @mnwild

Jeez they better hope he’s the next panarin
