Simmonds is not a tough guy.

If he's expected to play that role, he's going to be injured in 20 minutes.

- Atomic Wedgie

He's not a fighter for sure.
But he is some added toughness the leafs need

And I'd add that the Leafs have been a pretty "keep it quiet" team the last few years. Low penalties taken, low penalties drawn. The Leafs have good special teams and so getting a little more emotion into the games ...getting more 4v4's and special teams time is good for them I think. He can't be stupid but as we know the NHL is all about make up calls and keeping the calls relatively even so in theory more penalties = more PP time no matter what.

I think upping the emotional tone of their game might help the kids get out of their heads and take this poop over. Management has been consistent in this teams problem the last two playoffs - lack of compete.

Simmonds, Ritchie, Bunting, even Robertson and Sandin ...for better or worse all add to the compete level.

- The Law

Yup, agreed…. I think this team needs to play a touch more rough…. Which hopefully amplified the entire amount of competition levels

Ritchie can't be any slower than Thornton so I think he will get a good look there.

Gotta think everyone in coaching and management saw the embarrassment made of Marner and Matthews in the playoffs and want to correct that. Ritchie gives them the space to work.

Bunting might be a surprise too, looking forward to seeing him. He might be a better fit, who knows.

I do like the idea of splitting up Matthews and Marner.

Ritchie, Matthews, Nylander
Bunting/Robertson, JT, Marner

I see Robertson as a really good possibility because he's a second shooter on that line for Marner's passing but only if Bunting is not skilled enough.

Marner doesn’t need space. He can create all kinds of offence in very tight areas. He needs to learn that he won’t break if someone hits him. He should have spent the summer getting pummelled, not engaged. Unless…..

Marner needed space in the playoffs which is why he was ineffective, when the opposition took/takes his space away he's useless especially if it's in a physical manner.

Edit: not sure what happened to the last line....

I agree with you though, I hope Marner spent the summer getting roughed up! By the girl or dudes at the gym.

He can’t play a physical game or he would get hurt…. Look what happens to Robertson… plays too rough and gets hurt… and Marner has roughly only 10-15lbs on him and is taller

Most of you guys misunderstand when I say 'tough' guy.

The league doesn't have many Reaves/Colton Orrs left, we have Gabriel tho

When I say tough guy, I mean a guy that plays like....I don't know....Gallagher. A guy who annoys the opponent, mixes it up in front of their net or ours....you know, a guy that takes/gives those jabs, face washes, little whacks here and there because they aren't afraid.

I really believe making the other team miserable and accountable stops some of the bullying that goes on towards the Leafs.

Don't really care about fighting, I do like a good mixer now and again, but I do care about punishment and pay back and the psychological effects that players with balls have on the opposition.

Haha ....love it. I'd probably send my wife/gf to avoid the embarrassment too. Also it would establish that I didn't sleep at some other girl's house ...

"Babe, I really did sleep on some guys front porch last night ...I swear!"

I saw him at my course this summer. He didn’t look like a scratch golfer but hes a big boy. Doesn’t strike me as a quick skater at his size.
- bryant

He probably cheats at golf and they’re afraid to call him out on it. Maybe he can be our Lucic, sort of.

great story.

I saw a TikTok clip of a Scottish dude that woke up on the couch in a complete stranger's house. Thought he took a cab and went home after a party. Apparently he ended up changing his mind, didn't get in the cab and was going to go back to the party. Without knowing cuz he was hammered, he went in the wrong house and fell asleep on the couch. Not really knowing if he was home or the party was over, he just crashed.

And the next morning just like good ole Scots when the find a strange man on their couch, they offered him a tea and breakfast before he left. The video was hilarious.

I'm no cocktail expert but I've been trying to up my game a bit. The Cocktail Emporium on Queen just east of Ossington is really good. **There's another cocktail guy right beside and I'm told it's not as good so don't mix up the doors.

Anyway, Peychauds and Bittermans are both good bitters from my novice knowledge.

And If you ever want to get into that frothy top the lady at the C.E. sold me Ms. Better's Miraculous Foamer. No more egg whites ..so easy.

Half of our liquor cabinet now has the name Dillon's on it.

I'm not a spirts guy, but Mrs. Wedgie swears by it.
