Did you fall out of love with Korpisalo?
The nice thing about your lineup is that you'd have about $10m in cap space to try and fix that bizarre hellscape of a team! If you like hitting and clutching and grabbing, this is the team for you. Tkachuk, Anderson, Jenner, Wood, Cizikas and Bahl would have an espresso machine in the penalty box they'd be there so often!
I'll grant that the team would be a freaking nightmare to play against. - Monkeypunk
Isles 2.0😁
I had Korpse but switched him for Demko 🤷 |

Yes and Mickey is an awesome player.
A 20 goal scorer who averages 0.63ppg, Im not sure that "at least" 8.5. That's about 51pts per 82.
I mean I hope Ottawa signs to 9m per....but he's only worth about 6 - 6.5 per.
IMO - Fakepartofme
Agree, hope Ottawa overpays him, he could easily be traded though, other teams would overpay him as well. Ottawa cap-wise can easily afford to overpay as they are not (and won't be under current ownership) a cap team. The reason that Ottawa would play hardball here is simple, they are one of about 15 teams that had negative income last season (that won't change any time soon) Any salary they pay extra comes out of cheapo's wallet. Interestingly, Tampa lost money last year despite winning the cup.

He does do far more than Willie. Totally different player. - bixll
And comparing them at the same ages Brady offensive numbers are actually pretty close in terms of points per game. |

Not fair comparison though, Willie is a first line winger on a lot of teams, like Montreal. - bobbyisno1

Pretty simple actually.
Willie - Soft perimeter player with a great shot.
Brady - hard nosed, in your face leader of the future. Captain material.

Don't get this perimeter player label. |

Agreed. Not every 50 pt player is the same. I'm a supporter of Willie and he's a 60-70 pt guy but I'd take Brady every day of the week.
Svechnikov might be a good comp right now. 8 x 7.75. Factor in some Tkachuk ego and 8 x 8 or so is probably about right. - The Law
The Leafs could use a player like Tkachuk because they don't really have a guy like him. Would I want him over Nylander? Yes because we have Marner & Matthews & Tavares. But it's subjective. You win hockey games by scoring and keeping the other team from scoring.
Nylander scores, assists, and drives the offensive play at a better rate than Brady Tkachuk does.
Brady Tkachuk hits more and parks his ass in front of the net and gets a number of high danger opportunities from in close because of his positioning. If he had JVR's hands, he'd be worth $8m. He doesn't. He's probably worth $6.5m.
If Tkachuk had the defensive acumen to set himself apart from a guy like Nylander that would be great and add to the intangibles - but he doesn't. He doesn't really block shots, his line is frequently outchanced and outplayed and the wrong side of the ledger when it comes to scoring. You can argue that Ottawa is a rebuilding team, but DJ Smith has implemented a decent defensive system, so at some point you have to look at the forwards on the #1 line for what they are and aren't bringing to the table and the types of chances they are allowing against.
All that said, if my team needed scoring, I would want a guy like Nylander. If my team needed grit, I would want a guy like Tkachuk. In terms of the value they bring to the team, it's not that far apart in my opinion.

I know it wins. I have eyes and I have been watching hockey for a really long time, but God I hate that trappy / clutchy / jamming hockey. It takes the best game on Earth and turns it into a variation of soccer where every game is 1-0 or 2-1.
I also hate the emotional roller coaster that a 6-5 game brings. I just want a team that wins 6-0 on a consistent basis. Is that too much to ask?

New Maple Leafs assistant Spencer Carbery will take the lead running the power play this season. It was Manny Malhotra's responsibility last season.
No Idea who this guy is.
But a change from Malhotra is very much appreciated.

I think so but comparing things at age 21 the offensive metrics become a little closer. I'm sure most are wagering that, like Willie, Brady will also improve. Then you factor in the defensive play, leadership, and intangibles and I doubt any GM picks Willie over Brady. |

Marner wrote the book, and he was from the city ffs. 🤦🏻♂️ - joel878
In fairness to him he was coming off a 94 pt season. These rfa players now seem to want 8 or 9 million in a flat cap world after putting up 50 or 60 pts. |

He was also playing with 2 of the top Centers in the NHL. 1st or 2nd line, he had great centers with him. |

He put up numbers with Bozak as his centre. He carried that line. I don’t like his contract either but he puts up the numbers to justify it. |

Disagree that all GM's would take Brady over Willie. Leadership and Intangibles ok, Defensive Play? No way! Tkachuk is -41 over three years, Willie is +4 over that span. The other factor that no one has mentioned is how many penalties did Brady take where he left his team shorthanded? Certainly way more than Willie. I understand that grit has value, but there is a cost not only a benefit by getting a gritty player that takes lots of penalties. |

I’m just going by memory, and trust me it’s not what it used to be. But I thought Bozak, Marner and JVR was a set line for a time. |

Ive seen nothing from him that would suggest hes captain material.
Sure hes hard nosed, in your face pest....but doesnt seem like leader material....yet.
Again, this is from limited games ive seen and interviews of him. So just my opinion |

Seems like the Sabres escaped with a decent enough bridge.
