What bothers me more is that most people on this forum don't believe Morin is an NHL defenseman, never mind a 7th defenseman. I actually think is pretty good and if he actually could stay healthy and play consistently, he can be a real solid defender in the NHL.

I agree.

Most (not all) of the Flyers media team is useless though.

It’s clearly slanted in a positive light, and the upper positions/coaches which are clearly an issue in Philadelphia are never really looked at critically.

Nothing but a propaganda machine, especially in recent times when the team struggles to market itself.

If he wasn’t a first round pick. Would this conversation even be happening?

Morin may have had potential, but he has been lapped by younger prospects and rightfully so. In large part due to injuries.

Yet the legend of Morin lives on. I’m curious if other prospects will get the similar hand holding.

In this case given all I had was the center ice camera that didn't zoom into each zone, in fact it was behind the play most of the time which was very frustrating. I probably thought Frost was loosing faceoffs when he wasn't even on the ice. I can't imagine as a team the Flyers won the majority of faceoffs yesterday.

What’s everyone’s over under for frost making the opening night roster. I thought there was a chance for Allison to possible win a spot , but with the injury, frost, maybe tanner has a chance. He started last year out of a short camp.

Before the injury in my opinion Allison was close to a lock to make the team. If it is a significant injury, it opens up a spot. Whether that improves Frost's chances depends on how fixated the Flyers are at playing Frost at center.

Theoretically, they could also move Brassard to a wing and play Frost at center, although I tend to think they won't do that to start the season.

He won 60 percent of his draws yesterday.
- bmeltzer

yeah even with the stream you could seem him winning more than losing. It actually felt like Lappy was putting him out there to take draws and getting in the extra reps

I agree with you on this. I still think if injury is indeed a false post, then he can be a very good shut down guy if he can just stay healthy and get the reps. I have to say I do disagree with your assessments on Frost. I think he just looks stronger out there….that to me was the one thing holding him back. His skill is obvious, his ability to slow the play down and see the ice is now evident. I am much more bullish on Frost then I have been in the past.

He was dominant in the left circle. Not so great on his off side but that's why you give the reps.

Good news on Sam. Morin is an NHL defenseman. We haven't seen enough of him and he hasn't played enough to develop to where he should be right now in his career. That said, his time with the club last year was positive (IMO). I thought he looked like he belonged in the NHL. The size and grit are there. But I thought he played pretty well in the short time he got.

If he stays healthy and gets games, he will be a strong trade candidate at the deadline. Or we develop him into our 3rd pair guy when Braun walks. It's a no lose situation for us. Adds a level of toughness we haven't had.

I really think the Flyers shouldn't rush Frost up at the beginning of the season unless they have no choice. I still like the idea of giving him a few months worth of games in the AHL to get his confidence and bring up after the new year, when the games become closer together and more meaningful.

I like the way Tanner L skates and plays the game, he could be a good 4C.

I don't know about that, but I watched the 2nd rookie game and I was not too impressed with Frost, he couldn't win a faceoff to save his life! The player that looked best to me was Ratcliff believe it or not. He's a big kid that is not afraid to use his size, and he has an effective reach and protects the puck well.

I like to believe guys like frost and york are just not caring as much in these games but getting pushed around by young non nhlers doesn't bode well

Except that Frost wasn't getting pushed around, was winning the decided majority of his faceoffs (especially in the left circle), had four points in the two games and was involved in another 4-5 scoring chances beyond that.

York did score a PPG yesterday and was fine, although not dominant.

Good for Patrick I guess. . .he hasn't done anything yet (on the ice) to earn it. From what I could see his attitude sucked. Contrast Sam Morin who's cashing league minimum and the Flyers have stuck by him due to his attitude and potential niche on the team. I don't think the Flyers gave Morin anything. . .he's worked damn hard with the proper mindset to earn what he's gotten. Not so much with Patrick IMHO.

JD250: Bless me MJL, for I have sinned. I posted in a hockey forum that I saw Morgan Frost loose a bunch of faceoffs, when the stat sheet said otherwise. I am sorry for my sins.

MJL: For the confession of your sins, say Phillipe Meyers was unjustly traded one hundred times, followed by saying Mattias Ekholm could never help the Flyers one hundred times.

I did want to give him another year, but I'm also kind of relieved I won't have to watch and hold my breath every time this kid gets hit.

Sucks to see Morin play his last game. I had high hopes for him when drafted.

Sorta the nasty Pronger attitude guy on defense.

RIP Morin.

He jumped the gun before a definitive source confirmed it. He didn't fabricate something. It's not something you'd fire someone over.
- bmeltzer

I understand why he reported it, but he definitely did so irresponsibly by stating "sources have confirmed". Should have chosen his words better. Either way, hope the best for big Sam.
