Instead of removing the letter from his jersey, they should stitch on "minus" before the "C" until they name a new captain. - dashripdot

I’m sure teams will be banging down the door to trade for him now
Such a horribly ran franchise |

It’s unbelievable how bad the Eichel situation is getting in Buffalo. At this point why even keep him on the team? His trade value is actually decreasing as the days go on. - Awolff9
Don't tell the Sabres fans this ---- they still think they are getting 4+ major pieces for him when he gets traded... |

I still think it's absurd that the team is allowed to dictate what surgery Eichel can have. Seems pretty simple to me. Let him have the surgery he wants and if it ruins him they get to opt out of the contract etc. Granted they don't get any assets if it ruins him while he is Sabres' property. |

I have to imagine Buffalo is backing themselves into a corner here. His full-NMC kicks in next offseason and Jack can pretty much dictate where he goes and Buffalo is going to get butt-F'd on the return. |

True, but I have been lurking in their blog and the blogger there seems to think Buffalo would simply suspend him at some point for not complying with the team's wishes which would cause him to stop getting paid.
I don't know the ins and outs of the CBA and what is within the team's rights to do given the circumstances. It sounds like they do have some leverage and that may be why we are seeing things unfold this way. |

I think the team should have some small amount of say in what procedures a player has. However, yeah Eichel should be able to pick, this is something that will be with him for life. Maybe as you say, there should be some kind of language where if things don't go well, Buffalo gets to recoup something.

For sure. Having some say would be fine. Complete control is ludicrous. It's like not being allowed to get a second opinion for a serious diagnosis. Like you said, this decision for Eichel is a huge one and will determine aspects of his life forever. If he has a fusion surgery it sounds like he will have serious issues later in life.
The doctor who does the replacement surgery even says that a fusion is an option if the replacement fails. I doubt it works the other way around. |

If he'd been wearing the goalie gear, Kreider would have destroyed him. |

Glad it not just me. Been seeing those for awhile now. Kind of why I haven't been stalking the site as much anymore.

I'm going to be driving from Rochester to Long Island on Sunday so I might miss some of the game. |

FWIW, here were the Rangers' lines and D pairs today that matter for the NHL roster right now:
Kreider-Zibanejad-Lafreniere
Panarin-Strome-Kakko
Goodrow-Chytil-Kravtsov
Blais-Rooney-Reaves
Lindgren-Fox
Miller-Trouba
Nemeth-Lundkvist

Guess the only surprise is having Laf playing RW which I love. They’re not wasting any time! |
