Glad that things are starting to get going with the Hawks. How about this for a topic. The team used 11 rookies last year (listed here by games played)

Suter, Kurashev, Hagel, Mitchell, Kalynuk, Beaudin, Carlsson, Hardman, Entwistle, Johnson, Regula.

from this list (Removing Suter and Carlsson who no longer with the Hawks) who do you think will have an improved season and who will have some struggles?

I am going to say Kurashev most improved and Kalynuk will have the most struggles because of the difficulty of playing D in the NHL.

Hagel most improved, Beaudin the most "struggles" cause he will be in Rockford the whole year.

More relevant question: who of those remaining will have more than a quick cup of coffee in the Show this season? Kurashev, Hagel, Kalynuk….

Chicago as a “player development” location may be a thing of the past.

Kurashev and Hagel will be with the Hawks entire year, the others will depend on improvement and injuries to regulars.

Both will be traded each for a 3rd round pick.

So this was from the Columbus writer:

The situation in Columbus is continuing to develop in front of our very eyes this afternoon as newly acquired winger Zac Rinaldo is not a part of the training camp roster due to being unvaccinated, according to Mark Scheig of the Hockey Writers.

Rinaldo will start the year with Cleveland Monsters of the American Hockey League. The enforcer has been vocal about the Canadian election in the press, and the leak of his unvaccination has led the Blue Jackets brass to little to no choices for him. Rinaldo johns Columbus after being with the Calgary Flames last season, having a minimal amount of work in past shortened season.

I thought the league was going to allow non-vaxxed players to participate as long as they followed stricter guidelines. Not that I think Rinaldo is worth getting too upset over, but I'm more interested in the rule here.

He'll be back in Russia before that contract is up. Where is the Players Union on that one?

And people think Panarin would have taken a discount to stay in Chicago.

Kurashev should make the team, he may get sent to Rockford because he doesn’t need to go through waivers but he should make team.
