Yup! The cup was about 10’ from the little stage so the stage front was packed, cept no one looking at the band, myself included

sending kudos from the old world for you to feel good about it!

Even if I just get jamming again I’d like it… I’m 44 now so I’m not so sure I’d want to tour in packed vans again lol

It's too bad his career was cut down by injuries. Can you imagine what he could have accomplished if he had stayed relatively healthy?

What a place it was, didn't have the fame of the El Mocambo but the best blues club north of the 49th for sure. I saw Willie Dixon play there, (his son on guitar) Sat at a table no more than 20 feet from the stage.

Rene Levesque look-a-like in the main bar every afternoon and night sitting by himself smoking and drinking draft. The beer was ridiculously cheap. Also, wonderful cheap Hungarian restaurants (Country Style, etc) on that block and the Sorry No Chicken place across the street. It was a great neighbourhood.

Oh played that bar plenty of times. Got to the point that I’d just book it, and organize my band’s shows. I remember doing shows where The Sheepdogs would open for us before they made it big time.

And if you did spill any I probably didn’t notice, the bloody stage was boiling hot so I was always soaked in my sweat anyways lol

Ya I spent a lot of nights there in the early mid-90's. tight space but I always loved that low stage / small dance floor vibe.

I saw Radio Head play there in 94' ...probably my greatest musical memory.

Imho he accomplished more than enough. Too bad he went through 10 (frank)ing years of pain though. I know a guy that played with him during a couple of those last years...

The career stats stuff is nothing we care much for over here. His 1.25 ppg 700 NHL game career isn't very important imo. Every knowledgeable hockey fan would acknowledge his hockey greatness even if his career would've been 400 games.

That’s just a touch early for me, I didn’t hit 19 til 96’ so until then if I wasn’t in a show I wouldn’t be going in.

I played there during that time, started playing bars when I was 16, man oh man the 90’s were different lol

Agreed. Very few players had his talent and could play with an intensity - physically and will-to-win - at the level he did.

It's because the times I was there, I was totally smashed, and that is not a good placed to be if you are having trouble walking a straight line. I mean like destroyed. I feel ill just thinking of my shattered memories of the place.
- Zezel

Most of my Madison experiences were the same. The GD place had like 24 patios and 15 separate sections on like 6 floors. Get (or arrive) hammered and as soon as I had to pee that was basically it. I was never going to find my friends again.

I was 21 in ....oh wait RH was in 95'. The Bends tour. They did all ages on Sunday nights so I had been hanging out there from the early 90's. I was a big music chaser back then.

Remember Grandeur of Ghost / Gandharvas from back in the day? They would have been late 90's bands out of London. The lead singer now owns the Dakota Tavern near me in Toronto. Cool guy ....

Yes those Hungarian restaurants with the extra starchy foods were very good. I also like Mirvish Village, had a real good artist friend who had a studio there. Good times

Oh I remember those bands, and I didn’t actually live in London til I was 19 since I was born and raised in Strathroy. So I didn’t hang out at that bar until I was living here even tho I had played some shows.

That’s awesome that the former singer is near you too! I’ve never met him but he always seemed cool

Can't believe nobody is talking about Larry's Hideaway when it comes down to bands back in those days.
Just down the road from the Gardens.

The place you brought up was one of the first places to watch punk in Toronto right?

Here's how I see it. The Leaf's moves:
....

I honestly don't know if they're better because a lot of "ifs" are stuck in there relying on some bottom-6 production, but they're not worse as I see it.

- Monkeypunk

I agree. They are not worse.

"Mra3ek".

Your last paragraph pretty much nails my feelings: there's so many "ifs" in this lineup that it's hard to gauge if this squad is better than last season. They very well may be but the (non-)stars need to align pretty perfectly to make this team take a positive step forward.

Let's just say that I'm cautiously wildly pessimistic. (it will make the pain more tolerable, amirite/amirov?)

- mjones242

None of the "ifs" matter, except maybe whether or not Mrazek is a goalie who won't poop the bed in game 7, since we haven't had one of those. What matters most is whether or not Matthews and Marner can actually put their big boy pants on in the playoffs.
