The islanders replaced their worst defensemen with Chara. Can’t wait to hear about high danger scoring chances in April.

You might want to look up his stats. Your confusing assists and points.

Surprising, yes, same as Malkin. Mario Lemieux 49.

Mario was truly the king of goal scoring. If he could of had a healthy career he easily would have eclipsed gretzky’s goal total. Points I doubt though. Those extra 5 years in the 80s would of been a difference maker.

Its almost as if scoring goals was easier in the 80's.

Its what makes Ovi so damn impressive to me. Gretzky wouldn't of had all the goals he did if he started his career 2005 with his 80's workout regime, conditioning, nutrition etc against today's players and massive much more technically sound goalies with their massive equipment. No way.

I guess you could say he would have current day workout, conditioning, nutrition, etc as well but how would he of handled a 2006 hit in the corner from Ovi? haha

Ovi as best goal scorer ever is an interesting argument. He definitely isn’t as versatile a goal scorer as mario or Gretzky, but in a way, I almost find that even more impressive.
New sticks vs old goalies, era, rules, style of play, fitness, money to be made… people love these arguments cause u can’t be proven wrong, as long as your argument is realistic.

That's kind of the argument I was making, but I still hold Wayne and Mario above him.

Ovie is without a doubt the best shooter in NHL history, but I don't think that makes him the best goal scorer in history. He's a predictable player in that you know you he's going to shoot from specific areas of the ice, but the fact that teams know full well what he's going to do and you still can't stop it what is so crazy and makes him the best shooter ever.

Mario and Wayne created chances where there shouldn't be any to begin with and that's why I put them above Ovie, but it's not like it's a wide margin.

Honestly, I've never liked Crosby. But I've always respected his skill.

However, this is a classy move by him... Good on him not only for recognizing Ovi's abilities but rooting for him to make history.

Although, if I was Ovi, I donno if 99's record would be the one I'd be going for... I'd be going full Tony Hawk and shooting for 900
