Absolutely to all of this.

I love going to these every year. Especially when we have a new shiny toy to watch.

Really wish Power was there

In a normal year when this would be in July, think how much better it would've been.

This is absurd. Again, we played almost .500 down the stretch with ECHL-level goaltending. Will we be anywhere near .500 this year? No, of course not. This team is better than you think it is, even if it won't be good.
- Slump Buster

absurd? who is going to score for this team? We lost, Rhino, gonna lose Eichel, your top center is Mittle-shat? can he even do a pull up yet? Yes we had ECHL goalies last year but now we have an AARP starting goalie that's worse.

Look I love the Sabres and want nothing more than them to start winning and getting into the playoffs, but this team is going to suck, like really really suck.

Why would this year, of all years, bring out the dark in you? You already know, going in, what the plan is.
- Powerslave

Sucking has been the plan for the last 8 years, I just done with it. How many top picks does one team need to get good? so far in the last 8 years we have 8 picks in he top 8 half of them either 1 or 2 OA picks.

One thing we have never addressed in Goalie. IMO in this league you need a capable goalie to win, a real NHL caliber guy. Not a superstar, Just a proven starter. Not career back ups like Hutton, or Linus or any of the other scrubs we have put in the pipes. Go spend some cash on a real goalie.

I don't think they planned to suck last year. This year is obviously different.

And there are many on here who think they (frank)ed up by not signing said injury-prone goalie.

They had to get rid of him or he might accidentally win games in a shootout.

Linus is not a starter, good back up, not a starter. He will do well in Boston because Boston plays a great TEAM game and they rarely leave their goalies hang out to dry.

Planned or unplanned, the end result is the same and now we are blowing up our team again, we are not going to be good for another 3-5 years. I am just sick of it all, really all I want to see is a competitive team that competes for a playoff spot. That plays the game the right way. Lose if you have too but play hard every shift, do the little things right, build character in the locker room. Play for eachother. Lower talent teams can win if they play as a TEAM. Look at the 96-97 sabres, they did not have the most talent, they had a HOF goalie and a bunch of nobodies, but they played as a TEAM.

There is no reason why this team can't or won't do that, though. They're all young kids who should have this "we're in this together" mentality. I almost expect that.

What's going to kill them is goaltending.

It could be much sooner than that. We'll know more about Mitts and Cozens after this year, plus the pieces from an Eichel trade, Power, Peterka, Jack Quinn Hughes and a top-5 pick.

They could turn it around as soon as next year if UPL is any good

I hope your right, I will be totally happy if this team of young guns plays the game the right way, i have no problem with losing if it is done while playing right. that is more LEARNING then losing. And yes AARP Anderson will be the issue.

That must be addressed next year. or hell now if we can get our hands on a goalie.

I really wanted the to trade for MAF... i though he would of been perfect for a 2 year "teach UPL" how to be an NHL goalie.

I thought getting MAF as part of the return back in an Eichel trade with Vegas made a lot of sense, but what are the odds that MAF would've had an iota of interest in playing with the Sabres?

Didn't he almost retire instead of playing for the Blackhawks?

I think they are planning on being bad for this season and next due to the composition of those drafts.

I don't think there's much chance MAF would've agreed to be traded to Buffalo for the upcoming season, let alone also agreeing to signing a one year extension contract.

Absolutely agree,

Last year was a veteran Stanley cup "team"
Bigger expectations
Eichel's injury
Goaltending injuries.
Bad coaching
Vets quitting

This year:
No expectations
No eichel
Purposely terrible goaltending
Better coaching
No vets that quit (so far)
