It's very impressive tbh...
Myers was able to be a piece to bring in a top 2 RHD
Zamula tore up the world's before his injury
Now we have another potential guy who can play?
Do other organizations get to boast about scouting like this?!

Bill,
You referred to Avon as a forward. I know it's probably way too early for this question, but based on what you've seen & heard so far, if he were to stick with the organization, do you think they view him as a Center or Wing prospect? Thanks

Eliteprospects has him listed as a Center. 5'11" 174 lbs

Too early, probably. He still has quite limited experience in major junior hockey due to the cancelation of the 2020-21 season by the OHL and Rob Wilson being particularly sparing with his ice time in his 16-year-old season. He has the wheels and was working on the defensive responsibility facets so possibly a wing might be best for him long term. Not a lock to get an ELC off his tryout. But I'd say that if he goes back in the draft again after the 2021-22 OHL season, he'll get selected this time.

There really has not been much to discuss lately, just standing by waiting for the season to start. The moves have been made, the roster significantly shaken up and set for the season; I really don't see any surprises in camp unless there are injuries. I for one am really looking forward to watching a much improved team and once and for all putting last season behind us!

I am looking forward to it as well. Generally happy with the moves but we obviously have to see how this plays out. I can’t imagine with the changes that have been made that the d Corp will not be improved.

Lots of question marks with the D. If Sanheim and Ivan show little or no improvement how much does that set this team back? You have 2 older vets on the 3rd pair. They could fall off the cliff at anytime. Risto is a wild card. Ellis should be his usual self.

On paper it is much better.

Do the flyers have any contract space to sign anyone? Are they at 50?
- hello it's me 2050

I have no idea how many open spots they have nor do I know which league they can stuff the players into if they're signed

Any news on the 2019 first round championship banner ceremony?

Better hope those alumni found the fountain of youth, or the marketing team is going to struggle soon.

Yes, I think an intense area of focus defined by CF to his coaches and players is to reduce the goals against by playing a much more structured system. This means everyone buying into the style of play, and competing hard for 60 minutes every game. This to me is the number 1 reason teams like the Bruins and Islanders are so successful, they have bought in players that execute the system well and compete hard. That is why CF brought in the players he did and for example Jake had to go, because he was not bought into the style of play AV and his coaches wanted, it was completely obvious. If this happens, the Flyers will be strong contenders, if they don't, I don't care who you have playing on the team it will not matter.

And don't forget you have depth in the organization on D, where York and or Zamula could be ready to step in by January or February and next season you have Attard, plus Morin is serviceable and uses this size well. So if the 3rd pair falls off a cliff as the Flyers get deeper into the season, they have options to inject life and stability back into the D core. I believe Sanheim and Provey will be much better than last year, because they both have great partners now.

Was wondering about that too. It's probably an assortment of all the left over stuff from the the previous give-ways. After all, times are tough.

We’ve discussed it all but practice time will help the overall team d as well as the tender. More of a normal season will allow us to see what we have. Pk and d should improve. I’m also interested in seeing how the pp is deployed. Do you have provy on the point for pp1 and yandle on pp2

They are at 50 but they can sign anyone who is slide-rule eligible.

Thanks. Clearly this kid is going back to the OHL so might not be a bad move to sign him after seeing how he looks in camp. Maybe one of those kids who slipped though in an odd year.

Bill any idea how many contracts for the AHL guys they have coming off the books. Basically guys who have no future in the organization. Like a Strome.

To this point in his career, Ristolainen is the defensive version of Voracek. Only less towards the top of his position offensively.

What specifically is the style of play that AV wants?

If you're not using Yandle on the first PP unit and playing him massive minutes on the PP, then you've made a stupid signing.

If Provy is on PP1 it’s going to be a long year, he lacks what is needed to be a PP1 QB

Frost just said he's clocking in at 190lbs.

Allison mentioned that Frosty was looking good size wise just minutes before.

Honestly, with the additions, Provorov is the 3rd or 4th best defenseman on the PP on the team.
