I was just going off of Jan's last blog that mentioned he was not AHL eligible. I did some further digging and found the excerpt from the eligibility rules. Since he’s under contract with Frolunda, not a first round pick, and not yet 22, he can’t be assigned to the AHL.

ahhh, ok, the not a first round pick part is important, interesting

Spoke to Lauri Pajuniemi and Evan Vierling today. Both are interesting forwards to keep an eye on. Pajuniemi piled up goals in Finland and is trying to prove he can translate that to North America. He played for the same team as Kakko and has leaned on him during this process.

Pajumiemi is ONLY 22? Seems like he should be 32 lol. I'm just curious, could this be a reason Buch was moved? If they think he can translate well, that ws a bunch of cap space saved.

You can't have more than one defenseman in the line up under 6 feet. It's been scientifically proven.
- Tonybere

Thats not what Im saying. Lindgren is a smallish defenseman, but Id wouldnt consider trading him.

Its more about smallish defensemen who are not good in their own zone and make a name for themselves strictly by their offensive skills.

Lol, I know that's not what you were saying. I was just stirring the pot, harkening back to the argument from a couple weeks ago.

But,... who is saying anyone is not good in their own zone? All of us here know that doesn't describe Foxy and Nils has yet to play a game in the league.

Foxy isnt amazing in his own zone, but he does a good job.

Im just saying I would rather have more rounded players on the back end rather than specialists. Which is why Im a huge fan boy over the idea of a Robertson / Schneider pairing because they've been top notch players at every level to this point all over the ice. Ive gone out and said I think Schneider has the potential to be a Shea Weber type of guy (minus the ridiculous slap shot).

I got blue and red glasses and I know it, but I thought Fox was pretty awesome in his own zone all year. I don't disagree re Shnieder and Robertson, but they can wait a year. And if Lundquist pans, which it doesnt seem will happen, they call up one o fthe other two guys.

We, as fans, definitely see things through rosey glasses, but Fox isnt perfect. Hes phenomenal, but I think we sometimes overlook some of his screw ups because he makes up for it ten fold.

Whether Nils flops or becomes the next Erik Karlsson, Im not sure he has a future here. If he is the next Karlsson, on what planet can we afford to keep him beyond his RFA contract?

You can say the same for Schneider and/or Robertson panning out. If they do how do we afford them

If Nils is as good as people think/hope, I think his trajectory might follow the Fox money. Schneider I see as more of a slow burn up and will follow a more traditional route. But also, it comes down to which one would you rather have if you had to choose?

Flat Cap + Trouba/Kreider going to give me nightmares for the next few years. Thankfully we're no where near in as bad of shape as some of the other teams.

I am excited for Nils but with Dmen of the year in the SEL means very little. Remember that high scoring sel dman of the year that could not play defence in the nhl Remember David Rundblad, L. Pilut, E. Gustafsson. They all won the same award and were nhl disasters. Hoping Nils is different.

The two players you mention would cream to be as “good” Foxy is in his own zone! Not only does he get the puck out efficiently and effectively. He (like Panarin) is able to avoid hits. Foxy does it all!
