I'd really like to have an original song. A song that no one else has. I hope there are musically creative Flyer Fans out there submitting their own stuff. Example, a song that starts with the Action News chords in the beginning, then followed up with something that the fans can join in with.

That is a good choice...they use to that one during the warm-ups but it could fit in as a goal song too.

I think it was on the O&B message board I first read your articles. I remember your game day articles.
Sadly (to me anyway) the O&B board is gone.
Not a Flyers Fan by any means, but you guys are lucky to have Bill as a blogger. His articles are so well written that I often feel inclined to come read them.
The hard rock/heavy metal/whatever is kind of overdone. But it really doesn't matter.
To me, the best kind of goal song should be something with which the crowds in the stands can easily sing along to. That's part of why I think the Blackhawks song, as annoying as it is to the rest of the league, has so much staying power (as well as it coming along when their Cup drought ended in 2010 ).
With that in mind, I would think that the Beatles version of Twist and Shout would work as something the crowd can join in with call and response style of repeats in the chorus. And it would really work if they starts with the "AHHHHHSSSS" following the guitar solo. It will make a good transition from the goal horn (the horn can overlap and fade out after the ahs start):

It would be really nice if the goal-scoring players name can be substituted in place of the "Flyers" (as it is done with the Beastie Boys' names the first three times the chorus/refrain is sung in the original song), although that would be hard because it's not always apparent right away who that player is, and also because someone will have to always re-record for every roster change.
But I'm not sure my second suggestion is as good for audience participation as the first suggestion. But it would be nice to hear some old school hip-hop for a change.
