The issue is that a lot of new teachers try to do too much when they start. Not realizing that you need to slow walk lessons. Also, my mentor for one of my internships taught me not to give yourself too much work. Sure giving them a page essay sounds good when you assign it, but then you have to read 80-100 1 page essays

yeah some teachers become too motivated/invested for their own good I guess lol... I still find the income is a lot of the time too low though, especially with younger kids, considering the importance of the job

What you said about primary school teachers does have a lot of truth though. When you teach K-6 you're usually considered a generalist, so you're probably teaching most periods a day so you don't have a lot of prep time in school. In secondary you have more blocks off to prep during school hours and taking less work home.

Yeah the pay is proably lower, but that's kind of the trade off when governments wants it to be "free." Though like many public jobs, the government tends to undervalue the workers.

yeah but a lot of jobs in the public sector actually have decent salaries. I'm not aware of the whole national/provincial budget situation but it could be time to inject a bit of money towards education, and obviously the health sector as well (being a nurse right now sounds like (frank)ing hell...)

Pay gets a lot better with seniority. Newer teachers are usually sacrificed in cba negotiating.

Yep, schools got money to covid-proof them. It was more than needed, but since a lot of infrastructure was falling apart the money was used there instead of educational resources

we might want to have a second look at the public officials who determine how exactly the budget is distributed and used...

They should introduce offer sheets for newer teachers… They would get better salaries…
